For larger groups we are able to negotiate better prices with our suppliers, which is why the price per student is lower than for smaller groups. Our team We have a very experienced senior team focused on your success and satisfaction Nicholas Bray, Managing Director Nicholas has been MD since 2006. Nicholas worked for many years in international finance, is fluent in French, Spanish and Portuguese, and is a graduate of Oxford University, where he studied Modern Languages. Margaret McLeod. Principal Margaret is responsible for the day to day running of the school. She has been Principal since 2007. She is a qualified teacher and she is the main contact point for Group Leaders during their stay. This gives comfort to groups as Margaret is able to ensure that they enjoy their time with us to the maximum. Nick Johnson, Welfare Officer Nick has been Welfare Officer for over 10 years and is also one of our most experienced EFL teachers. Nick is responsible for ensuring that students are happy during their time with us.

Welcome to Bayswater! We welcome our junior groups to our school in Bayswater, central London (Zone 1) Location Bayswater is an cosmopolitan area in central London LSC Stanton is on Queensway, the main road in Bayswater, next to Whiteleys an iconic central London shopping centre, and 5 minutes walk away from Kensington Palace, the home of William & Catherine, the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. Facilities We have 20 classrooms with projectors, an internet and study centre. We are next to a number of restaurants and shops, including Costa Coffee. There is also free wifi throughout the building (but this is controlled so students under 18 do not have full access to the internet) We make sure that our junior students are isolated from our adult students
English classes Our junior groups study at the right level of English to make rapid progress Placement test We give all students a brief placement test when they arrive to make sure that they are studying at the right level of English English levels The courses are designed so that rapid progress can be made in a short time. We have three different levels of English: Elementary Intermediate Upper-Intermediate In class Students study for 15 hours per week, divided into 20 lessons of 45 minutes. Classes take place in the morning. Students have the opportunity to speak as much as possible including practise in pairs, small groups and with the whole class. Reading and writing is practised through course books and diary writing. Are you paying attention...? In our most recent inspection report, ISI said The quality of teaching is excellent
Homestay accommodation We offer full board homestay accommodation in safe residential areas of London Locations We work with many homestay providers. They are typically located in Zones 3-4 of London, in safe suburbs. All of our groups go to central London after lessons, so we endeavour to ensure that the journey times are not more than 35 mins to LSC Stanton and 45 mins to Piccadilly Circus. All accommodation is subject to availability, so we recommend booking early so that we can reserve the best accommodation possible Accommodation type Students live in a home as one of the family, staying in twin or triple rooms. The hosts treat the student as a full member of the household, eating together and sharing the common living areas. Breakfast and evening meals are provided in the home, and the hosts give students a packed lunch to bring to school. And another thing... We will sometimes use an accommodation agency to help us book accommodation. We make sure that they adhere to British Council standards.

Risks & Safeguarding We have been British Council accredited since 1978 As part of our regular inspections by British Council and ISI, our risk management and safeguarding policies and procedures are analysed in detail. We have a very comprehensive Safeguarding Policy, which explains our Duty of Care to students aged under 18, and provides guidance to our members of staff. Our Student Welfare Officer, Nick Johnson, has over 15 years experience as Welfare Officer and is available 24 hours per day via the Emergency Telephone Number Specific risk analysis: Injury to student Student will be given immediate first aid treatment by a qualified member of staff. If injury is more serious, student and GL will be accompanied to nearest Doctor surgery or, if an emergency, to the nearest hospital Vehicle breakdown Transport provider will arrange for a second vehicle to transport group. Disciplinary problem We hve a very clear set of rules that students must observe, together with a clear Behaviour and Discipline Policy please refer to Summer School Handbook and our Policies - http://www.lscstanton.co.uk/lsc-policies Emergencies of any nature We have a 24 hour emergency number for any issues experienced by the group. There is a Group Liaison Officer assigned to each group.
