PATHWAY COURSES The pathway courses provide an exciting opportunity for students who are looking to progress on to A Levels/BTEC courses at Cadbury College or wish to gain a qualification in order to enter employment. Our pathway courses are exam-free, so suit all learning styles and includes hands-on practical experience based upon real life scenarios. There are five pathway courses to choose from and each are full time study programmes designed to take one year to complete: Pathway to Art & design Business Creative performance Health & social care Science WHERE IS THE COLLEGE? Cadbury College is situated in Kings Norton which has excellent public transport services from all over the city. HOW DO YOU APPLY? There is no requirement for any specific prior learning but we do require that you achieve at least a Grade 3 in GCSE English and maths. WHAT MAKES OUR PATHWAY COURSES SPECIAL? ART & DESIGN This course provides an exciting opportunity for students who are looking to progress on to A Levels/BTEC courses at Cadbury College that can lead to a career in the creative sector/university. This course will give you a foundation of new skills in art and design and also to acquire a high level of skill and knowledge in the area that you enjoy the most. The core skills of drawing, the study of historical and contemporary artists, exploring ideas and visual communication form the basis of your study whatever your specialism. During the one year course you will cover a broad range of practical art and design skills including: drawing, art history, photography, fine art 2D/3D, graphic design, moving image, fashion and textiles. This pathway course will enable you to pursue careers as a graphic designer, media producer, illustrator, fine artist, textile artist, fashion designer plus many more! HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO GAIN THE QUALIFICATION? Our pathway courses are a full time study programme and designed to take one year to complete. Each pathway course is delivered by staff who are subject specialists and we also include a pastoral support package with every pathway option, to help support you through your study programme and move you towards your future aspirations. BUSINESS This course provides an exciting opportunity for students who are looking to progress on to A Levels/BTEC courses at Cadbury College that can lead to a career in the business sector. Business is one of the most popular subjects offered at Cadbury College and offers students the opportunity to explore the world of business using hands-on practical experience based on real life scenarios, promoting a wide range of learning styles. This pathway course can lead to careers in business planning, marketing, recruitment in business, business communication and many more! Students will be given guidance and support if they wish to undertake any optional work experience in relevant areas. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO GAIN THE QUALIFICATION? CREATIVE PERFORMANCE This course provides an exciting opportunity for students who are looking to progress on to A Levels/BTEC courses at Cadbury College that can lead to a career in the performing arts sector/university. It s also an ideal foundation that provides you with an understanding of how to perform in many different disciplines within the creative arts sector. You will practice and develop skills for performances throughout the year, whilst developing knowledge about the performing arts industry. This pathway course will enable you to pursue a career as an actor, musician, dancer, music therapist, theatre director, broadcast presenter, plus many more! The course will focus on: Devising and composing music, drama and dance Developing vocal, instrumental, drama and dance skills Understanding the rehearsal and performance process Exploring the performing arts business HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO GAIN THE QUALIFICATION? Health and social care is a very dynamic subject, which explores a variety of areas and current topics of interest from human life span development, communication and individual needs to ensuring safe environments in health and social care settings. This pathway course can lead to careers in social work, midwifery, nursing, paramedic, policing service and many more! This course is a very good starting point for those wishing to work with individuals of all ages in a variety of different settings such as hospitals, care homes and schools, etc. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO GAIN THE QUALIFICATION? Students will be given guidance and support if they wish to undertake any optional work experience in relevant areas.
