COM 514 Course Project Guidelines, Expectations, and Rubric Overview: For this project, each student will demonstrate their critical thinking skills by assuming the role of a customer in the cybersecurity field. The student will choose three cloud providers in which they will analyze the cloud computing issues related to the various personal and business-related cybersecurity scenarios. Guidelines and Expectations for Project: Part 1: Proposal Plan 1. The student will type a brief but thorough and well-organized project proposal that clearly describes the company or mission in which the student will be assuming the role of the client. The company of the client may be real or fictional. Each student must also research and identify 3 cloud computing providers that he/she will research for this project. 2. See below for Part 1: The Proposal Plan in the Project Rubric for further details regarding expectations and grading of this assignment.. 3. The proposal (300 words) must be submitted for instructor approval to the Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of Module 3. (The Dropbox basket is linked to Turnitin.) Part 2: Term Paper Draft 1. After receiving approval of the project proposal, each student must begin preparing a minimum 1500-word in length term paper. 2. The student must submit the draft to the Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of Module 5. (This Dropbox basket is linked to Turnitin.) 3. As the student prepares the term paper, he/she should assume the role of the customer with the task of choosing three cloud providers. The student will be comparing and contrasting the three cloud providers and make a recommendation of which of three providers would best meet the needs now and in the future. 4. The Term Paper must include: a. An introduction: i. A thorough, well-organized, and fully developed detailed analysis of three cloud computing providers, their organization s missions, and the types of cloud computing services each would offer to the client s organization. ii. A thorough, well-organized, and clearly developed description of the measures each cloud computing provider would likely implement to enhance protections for their consumers.

iii. A description of services that clearly and thoroughly explains how each cloud computing provider would increase flexibility to offer more to consumers in the future. b. A detailed compare and contrast of the three cloud providers the student chose. The cloud computing providers must be compared and contrasted in a thorough, well-organized manner that includes significant support based on a thorough review of the literature, not limited to news articles, and includes reviews of position or policy statements or reports from agencies or organizations and other scholarly resources. c. A conclusion in which the content was well organized in a logical and a clear developed manner that included which of the three cloud computing providers would best meet the client s needs with a significant amount of support for their recommendation. d. Graduate-level writing must be reflected throughout the paper, including accurate spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure e. No less than 1500-words in length, formatted in accordance with APA standards, and include a title page, table of contents, introduction, section headers, subheadings, a conclusion, and reference page. (The 1,500- word count requirement does not include the title page, table of contents, or reference page. f. See below for Part 2 of the Project Rubric for further details regarding expectations and grading of this assignment.. 5. The instructor will review each student s Term Paper draft and provide feedback regarding the draft no later than Thursday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of Module 6. Part 3: Final Draft of Term Paper 6. After receiving the instructor s feedback, each student is expected to: a. Incorporate the instructor s feedback in the final draft and include all the components of the rough draft. b. The final Term Paper must be submitted to the Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of Module 7. (The Dropbox basket will be linked to Turnitin.) 7. See below for Part 3: Final Draft of Term Paper in the Project Rubric for further details regarding expectations and grading of this assignment. Part 4: Presentation 8. Each student should begin preparing a Presentation in Module 6 after they receive feedback from the instructor on their rough draft of the term paper. 9. The Presentation must be posted to the Discussion Board located in the Course Home menu no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of Module 7. a. The Presentation must include:

i. Ten-slide executive summary of the Term Paper and details of the student s findings. ii. Text and graphics must be appropriate and include no errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and/or sentence structure. iii. All sources must be cited using APA format. iv. In the notes section of the Presentation, each student should assume the role of a presenter in a face-to-face classroom and type what they would say as if he or she were presenting their Presentation to their classmates. b. Each student will review their classmates Presentations located on the Discussion Board and choose two classmate s s to post a minimum 200-word response on the Discussion Board no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT of Module 8. Each student s response should include: i. Why they would agree or disagree with their classmate s recommendation. ii. Support to justify their response and why they agree or disagree. 10.
