EYFS Teacher s APP Overview We have created a super free EYFS Teacher s APP just for you! You can run this app on your iphone or ipad or any android Phone or Tablet. To download the app for an apple device go to the apple app store. For android devices you will need to go to Google Play. The app is called School360 EYFS and is free. The app uses the UK Government s EYFS framework categories of effective learning (CEL), detailed learning goals and levels of development. This is what the app enables you to do (we will take you through each capability step by step in the rest of this document) Observations: Record an image of specific children at working on a task, link that image to the children involved an area of learning and one or more specific learning goals. You can then send the image and data back to School360 for sharing and analysis. Reflections: Record a general image for class discussion. Link the image to the class, add your notes. This will then be made available to all pupils in the specified class via the pigeon messenger tool. Getting Started You will download from the appropriate app store and use your school360 username and password to start using the app (you only do this once). EYFS Teacher App Login Screen Enter your normal School360 username and password here, then click on Next. Once you have registered you will see the app home screen below. Page 1
Home Screen Making an Observation Ok let s make an observation. Lets say we have three children in a class working together. First select one of the categories of learning on the home screen (this will be saved as part of your observation report). This will take you to the Class Select screen below. Choose a class Select a class to see all the pupil(s) in that class. Then choose the pupils you want (just click on each one and a black surround will appear. Choose pupils Page 2
Click next to start to make your observation about these pupils. You can enter some text in the context field and also the observation field. You can then attach a photo. Make your observation You can now attach a photo. You have a choice of either taking a photo or choosing an image from your gallery. Take/Select a photo A thumbnail of the photo will appear where the black camera is on the page. Note* On Android phones you have to make sure the camera orientation is correct before you take a photo (click on the I info button for instructions how to do this). Yikes now you need to choose what goals have been achieved and the level of achievement. Here we go. Page 3
Select the learning goals To select a goal just click on it, to deselect click on it again. When you click on a goal you will be asked to specify the development level. Select level of development Ok click Done when you are happy with your selections. All this data will be attached to your report and sent back to School360. Right if you are happy with everything click on the Send Button. You will be asked to confirm you want to send the data an image back to School360. Page 4
Confirm Send Observation report to School360 That s it. You can look at all your reports in School360. Just go to admin and select EYFS Observations from the EYFS Admin side menu. Making a Reflection Reflections are a photo of something your class has done that you would like them to discuss wit you or their parents at a later date. Making a reflection is pretty easy, just click on Making a reflection on the home screen. This will take you to the Choose a class screen as below. Choose a class Click on a class and you will be taken to the Make a reflection screen below. You can add text in the description text box. You can then select or take a photo in the same way you did for an observation. A thumbnail of the photo will appear where the black camera is on the page. Note* On Android phones you have to make sure the camera orientation is correct before you take a photo (click on the I info button for instructions how to do this). Page 5
Make a reflection Once you are happy with the reflection you can send it back to school360. Just click the send button then confirm you want to send (same as when sending an observation). When the app is finished sending you will see a black box with confirmation that the report has been sent to School360. Confirmation report has been sent to School360 That s it. You can look at all your reports in School360. Just go to admin and select EYFS Reflections from the EYFS Admin side menu. Page 6
Reflections are automatically posted to the pigeon message box of each pupil in the class you selected. To find out more about the management of observations and reflections and how pupils and their parents can access the reflections through Schol360 consult the EYFS help document. Future Developments & Improving the APP We are planning in the future to enable teachers to send observations and reflections direct to parents via the School360 Parent App. We would like to make the EYFS App as useful as possible.
