Important things to remember Do not click VALIDATE until you are happy with your answer The Digital Student Workbook is based on American Spelling. The system will check for: Correct spelling (American English) Punctuation Capitalization Do not leave the answer blank. Try to answer. If you have any errors, the system will mark the answer as incorrect. If for any reason, you think your answer is correct, don t get stuck! Check with your Personal Tutor or a Teacher, and keep going! Review Mode Once you have completed all the lessons in a Unit, a review Unit will appear. In your library, your bookmark will change to Review Mode. In Review Mode you can only practice exercises and review answers in the completed lessons. Your score will not change. Review mode is represented by a bookmark labelled Review Mode in the My Library screen. End Mode Lessons in your books become PDFs 24 months after the book was released to you. You only need to access your book normally, and when you click on a Lesson a PDF containing all the activities in that lesson will be created. In this way you will be able to save and keep your WSE Digital Books forever. We hope you enjoy your experience with your new course! Remember that staff are always here to support you with questions or concerns you might have. Keep learning, and Keep working for your GOAL!! 24

When accepted, the screen below will appear. On this screen you can see your scores for the lesson. The total score of the lesson is based on the number of exercises in each category, i.e. Vocabulary, Grammar, Skills Practice and the score you received in each one. How Digital Books Grade and Score Under the lesson on the left there is a display of the number of minutes it took you to complete the lesson. The first grade (farthest left) is the overall Lesson grade - this is the score you received on the Lesson overall, averaged across all exercises in the Lesson. The 3 grades to the right labeled Vocabulary, Grammar and Skills Practice are an average score on exercises in the Lesson that fall into each of these three categories. Note: these three grades cannot be averaged to obtain the overall Lesson grade, since there may be differing numbers of exercises in each category. All grades are calculated out of 10, regardless of the number of questions or exercises. One of the best features of you Digital Student workbook is Auto-Correction. This means that when you click on Validate the system will indicate which answers are correct and which answers are incorrect. You will have a chance to re-do the exercise 3 times before the answers are locked in. 23

Essay This is also an open-type exercise. You need to write a text based on the topic, which is shown by clicking on the lower right corner of the box. This has additional information or reading texts which will help you to write your text. Clicking on the lower right corner opens a pop-up that will allow you to view reading materials. Like the Short Answer Questions exercises, there is not one correct solution, so a model answer will be shown. This can be compared to your answers and you can build your self-correction skills. Always re-read your answers to find your mistakes. This is part of the learning process. If you have questions, a Teacher or Personal Tutor can always help. End of Lesson When you finish the last exercise of the lesson, click on the right to send your exercises for correction and then press OK. 22

Free Practice This type of activity can be Theoretical: the purpose is to provide knowledge. Practical: you must solve the exercise on your own. Short Answer Questions This is an open exercise type. Fill in the blanks with a word, phrase or text. There is no single solution to this activity, so a model answer will be shown. This can be compared to your answers and you can build your self-correction skills. If you have questions, a Teacher or Personal Tutor can always help. 21

Sequencing Put the phrases that appear in each of the boxes in the correct order to create a conversation. Matching Match the boxes in the left column with the boxes in the right column. To do this, first select the box in the left column and then the box from the right column that matches. 20

Video Exercises Click on the video icons that appear in the activity to solve the exercise. True/False Select one of the two response options. Depending on the exercise, the options are True/ False or Yes/No. 19

Drag and Drop Click on the correct answer and drag it with your mouse or finger to the blank spaces. You can also type directly into the spaces. Both options are available and you can use the one you prefer. Audio Exercises Click on the music note to play the clip and solve the exercise. 18

Main Exercise Types If you are using a mobile device, we recommend you use a Tablet or ipad. The books are avaliable either through the browser or the Digital Books by Wall Street English App. You can access the activities on your mobile phone, but the small screen makes some of the exercises more challenging. Fill in the Blanks Completing a text with a word or expression Responding to a series of questions Rewriting a sentence correctly Choose the answer Choose the answer from the options given in a dropdown menu. 17

Reference Screen Most exercises have reference screens. Reference screens contain the language needed to complete the activity, usually vocabulary lists, grammar explanations or language functions. The vocabulary reference screen offer access to definitions and pronunciation files from Longman Dictionaries. Three different dictionaries are referenced depending on your level. If you click on a word, a pop up will appear showing the definition of the word. If you open the definition of the word, you will see two audio file icons: one contains the pronunciation of the word in British English, and the other one contains the pronunciation of the word in American English. Icons While doing the lessons, on the right hand side you have some tools which you can access. The following are the tools available. 16 REFERENCES Progress Bar View reference text. This screen contains the language (vocabulary, grammar, expressions) necessary to complete the exercise. PENCIL HILIGHTER NOTES This button allows you to write notes on the page using a pen. This button allows you to highlight notes or text on the page. This button allows you to insert post-it notes while doing the exercises. The number of blue boxes indicates the number of activities completed. The number of grey boxes indicates the activities that have not been completed.

Validate and Solution Once you click on a lesson, a window will load and the first page of the manual will show. You have three attempts for most exercises and one attempt for activities which are not graded, but show possible answers. Once you finish the exercise, click on Validate. If you have three attempts you can make changes to your incorrect answers two more times before the activity is locked, the answer key is visible, and your score is saved. If you make changes, click validate to check your new answers: Important. Do not click VALIDATE until you happy with your answer. Once the activity is locked, you will not be able to change your score. Once you have completed your three attempts you can check the answers by clicking on Solution and Hide to see your original answers again. 15

Review Unit Review Unit automatically appears once the Unit is completed. This Unit contains all the activities listed in the lessons. In this case, the number of attempts for completing an activity is unlimited. The scores obtained in the review Units are not saved to the gradebook. Exercise Screen To start doing the exercises, choose a Unit and it will drop down. Select the lesson. 14

My Library Once you login you will find your Student Manuals. The Student Manuals in colour are the ones you have completed or the one you are currently using Book Screen Once you select a book available, you will see a screen like this and on the lower left hand side you can see the percentage of the book completed. 13

Staff support Staff can always see your progress. No need to bring your book, your PT or Teacher can always access your digital book to give you feedback and advice. Welcome to your new course at Wall Street English! We ve completely redeveloped our course to make learning English a more effective, supportive, flexible, and entertaining experience. With our new curriculum and tools, you ll stay motivated and on track. You will see results, guaranteed. Our new curriculum is built on the Global Scale of English Learning Objectives which clearly defines what language you will be learning and what level of English you will be achieving with each lesson, unit, and level so you can track your progress. Your new course brings you the following features: New Interactive Lessons made with Hollywood-style videos. New Story and Characters to entertain you and keep you motivated. New Student Dashboard where you can access your course, connect with friends in the online community, and track your progress. Plus, all new Assessments, Exercises, Encounters, and Complementary Classes. How to access your WSE Experience online: You can access your WSE Experience anytime, anywhere with the right tools. For the best experience, outside of a Wall Street Center, we recommend you use Chrome or Firefox as your browser. You can use Safari, but you must have all the most up-to-date plugins. Set up can be challenging for the inexperienced, so go for Chrome or Firefox! Your course is available on any device. The best mobile solution is on a Tablet or ipad, using the Wall Street Learning English App. The ios (ipad) App is currently available in the App Store and Playstore. If you are using a Tablet or ipad, we recommend you use a good headset (earphones with a microphone). Activities that require you to Speak do not work on Tablet or ipad browsers. You can do Digital Student Workbook activities and any activity that does not require a microphone. We strongly recommend you use the appropriate App. For any questions you may have, you can contact the Wall Street Thailand help desk at: 1211 or any of our Personal Tutors at your center. 3
