Annual Advancement Plan Purpose: The Comprehensive Advancement Model consists of both Operations/ Strategy and Revenue components driving Communications and Relationships From these components the JP II annual advancement plan is designed. The JP II advancement program is annually designed to ensure that our schools remain viable (enrollment) and sustainable (the financial model under which our schools operate) both in the short and long-term. Bathrooms at Nativity School Purpose: To improve the environment of the Nativity School with updated and modern bathrooms. This will promote hygiene and improve the environment. Cost: $65,000- Fully Funded Fully Funded Timeframe: April 2013 Highlights: Building project expected to be completed for 2013-14 school year. Both the boys and girls bathrooms will be updated with new flooring and plumbing fixtures as well as Kindergarten and 1st Grade in-class bathrooms.
Bus for Transportation Purpose: Between our daily routes and the many student activities we would be able to save money by owning a bus capable of running routes out of the Fargo area. Cost: $40,000 Timeframe: Within the next 3 years Subject Areas: This bus would support activities and sports mainly in the Sullivan and Shanley schools, but will also support more field trips in the elementary schools. Additional Benefits: Owning another quality bus would give us more flexibility and help us to be less reliant on charter buses which come with a considerable cost.
Business Department Funded Through Purpose: To create Business classes for Shanley students in order for them to gain a better understanding of personal finance, business law, web design and computer applications. Cost: $35,000 per year Timeframe: Ongoing Subject Areas: Business and Technology Skills 2014-15 School Year Additional Benefits: These courses increase the breadth of offerings at the high school level outside of our traditional strongholds of science, math and language arts. These courses will have direct impact on students as they leave high school and enter into post-high school life and will help them identify education plans and aid in decisions about career direction. Highlights: Computer Applications I Create and format Word documents like reports, business letters, and tables Create and format Excel Spreadsheets, including equations and sort functions Create charts with Excel Spreadsheets Examine how the Internet works Create and format PowerPoint projects Personal Finance Examine career and education options Discuss the steps in obtaining employment Learn the value of saving Identify different investment options Recognize the dangers of debt Understand the value of a budget Web Design Introduction to Adobe Photoshop Web development using Adobe Dreamweaver Computer Applications II Using Microsoft office for advanced applications Complete a simulation as a document specialist for a fictional business
Elementary Foreign Language Purpose: Foreign Language is an important aspect to students as they learn about Cost: $100,000 Timeframe: 3 year commitment Subject Areas: Spanish would be the easiest program to implement and would come with a wide variety of resources in the local community. It would also fit well with service learning components that we could access. Additional Benefits: This type of program would make JPII Schools more competitive in our offerings. A sustainable Elementary Foreign Language Program is something that would move our academic program into an elite status in the area. Guaranteeing students entering 6th grade would have 5-6 years of a foreign language would put them on the path for starting another language in high school or at least receiving college credit before graduation.
Giving Hearts Day Purpose: To sponsor Health/Wellness related programs at JPII Schools including the School Nurse Cost: $40,000 Timeframe: February 14th every year Subject Areas: Health/Wellness Additional Benefits: Support student health/wellness through preventative screening as well as helping with staff wellness programs. presents Hosted By: impactgiveback.org 24 Hour Online Fundraising Event 2.14.13
Resource Room Purpose: To create a position of Supervisor for a Resource Room to monitor those students who are on IEP s or 504 s, those attending our schools as international students, or individuals who are falling behind in school work. Cost: $35,000 Timeframe: One Year Additional Benefits: This position would have a direct impact on our students that are most at risk. A Resource Room Supervisor can see the big picture and help students that are at risk across the curriculum. The Supervisor and the classroom teachers collaborate as a team to differentiate instruction to best meet the needs of our students. Resource Room Study hall that is monitored by the Resource Room Supervisor. Students at risk would be assigned to the study hall. Supervisor would monitor missing work and grades for all at risk students. Supervisor would work with teachers to differentiate instruction. After School Homework Room Resource Room Supervisor would be available in an after school study room for all students who need additional help on homework. Resource Room Supervisor can help students who have extended absences to catch up on their school work. 504 Coordinator The Supervisor would track accommodations for 504 students and aid teachers in strategies for accommodations. The Supervisor would work with the principal, counselor, and teachers to identify who would benefit from a 504 plan and help to formulate suggestions for accommodations.
Teacher Master Degree-Dual Credit Purpose: To support the professional development of our staff through the funding of a teacher to complete his/her Master s degree. With dual credit certification a high school teacher will be able to teach classes that count for dual credit (high school and college through the University of Mary). Cost: $7,000-$14,000 Timeframe: 3 year commitment Subject Areas: We have teachers in the areas of English, Science and Math who are interested in this professional development opportunity. Additional Benefits: Students making a choice about high schools consider AP and dual credit courses to be very important. As we look to increase enrollment through excellence, this is a program that will impact enrollment into the future.

Teacher Masters Degree: Religion Purpose: To promote the Mission of the Blessed John Paul II Catholic Schools by advancing the professional development of our staff through the funding of a teacher who is currently studying for his master s degree in Catholic Education & Catechesis. Cost: $15,000-$17,000 Timeframe: 3 year commitment Subject Areas: Religion Additional Benefits: Your generous support of this staff member will assist in improving the quality of religious education provided to students who attend Shanley High school, as the degree is being pursued through an ecclesiastical institute under the direction of the Holy See. In addition, it will provide improved quality and collaboration of religious education within the Fargo Diocese, as this programming is also being utilized by those who develop religious education at the diocesan level.

Nativity Library Storage Space Purpose: To build storage cupboards for Nativity Library/Media organizational use. Cost: $1,930.00 for 6 double-door cupboards installed Subject Areas: Library/Media Additional Benefits: These cupboards will provide necessary storage space for book processing equipment, new inventory, Reading Starz/Book Clubs supplies, library laptop computers with components, and library/media program tools. Highlights: The cupboards will be installed in the media center hallway above the laptop tables. Each cupboard will have two doors, and inside will be two shelves. One set needs a lock to house the laptop computers with components.
