International Business JAMK s International Business Degree Programme is the first bachelor s level programme in universities of applied sciences in Europe to be EPAS-accredited. Logistics Engineering Logistics experts ensure that goods, information, capital and people move efficiently, effectively and economically in both domestic and international environments. The entire logistics engineering programme is conducted in English. Students and teachers from all over the world create an international atmosphere. Your studies include transportation, materials and inventory management and information logistics (e.g. position technologies and management information systems). You also have the chance to take an exchange period at some of our partner universities abroad. Logistics engineering studies have study modules, which include contact lessons, teamwork and individual homework. Nursing As a nurse you plan, implement and develop the practice of nursing in various settings. Nurses provide nursing care, help, support and rehabilitation. They operate flexibly in multi-professional and multi-cultural settings in family and community care, as well as in health promotion. Nursing studies will take you through varied and multi-disciplinary areas of healthcare. How to apply for Bachelor s Degrees Eligibility Eligibility to apply for higher education studies can be obtained with secondary education completed in Finland or a foreign degree / qualification, which gives eligibility for higher education in the awarding country further information at www.admissions.fi How to apply? Submit your application through the national joint application system at www.admissions.fi 7th January - 11th February 2014 at 4.15 p.m. (GMT +2). Please, note that you can submit only one application and choose 1 4 degree programmes in order of your preference you may change the order of your preference in the application form until the end of the application period. TOEFL score results are accepted only directly from the Educational Testing Service. JAMK s TOEFL code is 0719. Attachments must be at the admissions office by 21st February 2014, 4.15 p.m. (GMT +2). The attachments must be sent by post. Scanned or faxed copies will not be accepted. If your certificates are written in any language other than Finnish, Swedish or English, you must enclose an authorised translation of the certificates in one of the mentioned languages. The translator must sign and stamp the translations. 10

Admission for Bachelor s Degrees Admission groups 50% of applicants will be admitted on the basis of the entrance examination only and 50% on the basis of the combined school performance and examination points. If study places become available, applicants on the waiting list will be admitted in the order determined by their admission points. Applicant s Health Issues More information about possible health- and other admission-related requirements concerning each degree programme can be found at www.jamk.fi. For students whose practical training includes working with minors (under 18 year olds), JAMK may also require documentation to prove that the applicant does not have a criminal record. Entrance examinations All eligible applicants will be invited to the entrance examinations. Entrance examinations will be held in Jyväskylä, Finland Degree Programme in Nursing, 15th April Degree Programme in International Business, 23rd April Degree Programme in Logistics Engineering, 24th April JAMK also holds entrance examinations in several countries within Europe, Asia and Africa. The list of countries will be posted on our website www.jamk.fi/ english/education. Please, note that JAMK cannot influence the decisions made by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland regarding visas. Acceptance for Bachelor s Degrees The results of student selection will be announced by 27th May at the earliest, and 15th July 2014 at the latest. You need to confirm your study place by 29th July 2014 at 4.15 p.m. (GMT +2). Confirmation is irrevocable. You can only accept one study place at a higher education institution in Finland starting in the same academic term (1st August - 30th December or 1st January - 31st July). This rule applies to all higher education included in joint applications. Please note that if you are not a citizen of an EU country, you must apply for a residence permit as soon as possible after receiving the decision on student admission. The original certificates will be checked by student services at the beginning of studies. Universities of applied sciences may withdraw your admission, if you have given false information. The letter of admission will include further information on enrolment. Studies will begin in the middle of August 2014. By that time you need to be in Jyväskylä, Finland. International Business Management Interested in business development and getting a Master s Degree? Join our innovative study atmosphere! Develop your skills, recognise opportunities from changes in the global environment and formulate the right strategies to capture them. The three major study modules are Strategic management New business development in a global environment Research and development. In addition, you may choose from various elective studies such as Global Leadership and Culture, International Business Law, and Strategic Human Resources. Our graduates are able to initiate, plan and implement new business development projects for companies targeting global growth, or execute management tasks in global context. The programme can be completed in approximately 1½ years of full-time study through intensive periods from September to November and February to April. It is also possible to build a part-time study programme through a personalised study plan. Eligibility The requirements for eligibility are a bachelor-level degree in the field of business and administration or other equivalent degree, and at least three years of relevant work experience after the bachelor s degree. Information Technology The objective of the programme is to respond to the growing challenges of cyber security. Its key contents are data network security and its monitoring, threat defence and influencing security. In addition, the programme deals with general security activities in the field of ICT, legislation in the field and national security criteria. Theoretical content also includes design, encryption and detection methods of data security. During the course, students learn to detect known and unknown vulnerabilities in information technology devices and to test data security. Students also learn to defend against data security threats and to use proper counter-measures. Education is delivered as multiform teaching where contact hours take place during weekends. Delivery is designed in such a way that it is possible to pass the examination whilst doing full-time work within two years. Eligibility The requirements for eligibility are a bachelor s degree in engineering in the field of information technology (ICT) or other equivalent degree, and at least three years of relevant work experience after the bachelor s degree. How to apply for Master s Degrees The application period is from 3rd March to 1st April 2014, 4.15 p.m. (GMT+2) at www.jamk.fi/english. The minimum eligibility criteria for the Master s Degree Programme are a suitable bachelor s degree (or other equivalent degree) and at least three years of relevant work experience gained after the bachelor s degree. All applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility will be invited to the entrance examination. The entrance examination / interview will be held in Finland in 19 23 May. Notice: when applying for the Master s degree programme in Information Technology (IT),it is necessary to fill in the pre-assignment! The pre-assignment can be found at the end of the electronic application form. Admission points Student selection is based on the grade of bachelor s thesis, work experience and entrance examination (and pre-assignment in Information Technology). The applicant must score at least 20 points in the entrance examination in order to be admitted to the programme. Work experience Only work experience that exceeds three years (required for eligibility) gives admission points; two-month work experience from the relevant field equals one admission points. The maximum amount of admissions points from work experience is 20 points. The work experience must be from the field of the bachelor s degree (used for applying) or from field that the applicant is currently applying for. The applicant can include work experience until 31 July 2014. In the application form, it is necessary to fill in work experience in whole months. Part-time work can be transferred into whole months, such that, 150 hours or 20 full workdays (at least 7 hours per day) corresponds to one month. Service in an army, non-military service or nursing leave is not considered as work experience. The amount of work experience must be proven by work certificates. Tuition The master s degree programmes conducted in English charge a tuition fee for NON-EU / EEA -citizens. NON-EU / EEA-citizens may apply for a JAMK scholarship. Vocational Teacher Education is a multiform post-degree programme intended for teachers and teacher applicants who plan to work at universities of applied sciences and institutions of vocational education. Education provides the pedagogical qualification for teaching in Finland. In JAMK s Teacher Education College, we offer you an enthusiastic and modern learning environment. Our education is designed to meet the needs of adult students: the mode of study is flexible and each student is able to tailor his/her own studies. Studying part-time includes the basics of educational sciences and vocational pedagogy as well as teaching practice in other subjects.
