Purpose To provide international students with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea To promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between the countries. 2. Qualifications Scholarship Period Qualifications 5 years 1 year of Korean language + 4 years of Bachelor's course requirements Prospective applicants must meet the following qualification criteria; 1. Must be a citizen of the country to which the scholarship is offered, which also applies to the applicants' parents. 2. Applicants must be under 25 years of age as of March 1st, 2017 (born after March 1st, 1992). 3. Have graduated or will be scheduled to graduate from high school as of March 1st of the invitation year(2017). Not eligible: those who have already obtained a bachelor s degree or higher degree. 4. Must possess above 80% (out of 100%) cumulative grade point average (CGPA), or must be within the top 20% (out of 100%) in rank in high school. ( CGPA should be 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4.3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, 3.23 on a 5.0 scale or higher.) 3. Selection Procedure 1st Selection : Korean Universities and Korean Embassies will recruit and select qualified candidates. Applicants should apply for the program THROUGH their local Korean Embassy or one of Korean Universities designated by NIIED. 2nd Selection : NIIED selection committee will screen qualified candidates selected by the Korean Embassies and Korean universities. 3rd Selection : Korean Universities will screen candidates(via Korean Embassy) for admission. Successful candidates will gain admission from at least one of the three universities.

Scholarship Airfare Monthly Stipend Relocation (Settlement) Allowance Language Training Fee Tuitions Medical Insurance Special funding for scholars who are proficient in the Korean language (TOPIK Level 5 or 6) Round-trip economy class ticket 800,000 won (KRW) per month 200,000 won upon arrival Full coverage All admission fees are waived by the host institution (university). The tuition will be provided for by NIIED. 20,000 won per month will be provided (limited coverage). 100,000 won per month 5. Important Notes 1 Screening is based on the applicant's GPA in High School, personal statement, study plan, and language proficiency(korean and English) etc. 2 Students who are enrolled in the Engineering, IT, School of Agricultural Civil & Bio-industrial Engineering in the Agriculture & Life Sciences must complete the ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) program. 3 Incomplete or incorrect documents are subject to rejection by KNU and NIIED.(Even after entry to Korea) 4 KNU follows NIIED's Guidelines about other details including qualifications etc. 3. About KNU History 1946. Colleges of Education, Medicine and Agriculture in Daegu upgraded to National college. 1951. Colleges of Education, Medicine, Agriculture, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Law and Political Sciences were combined to create Kyungpook National University. 1953. First Graduate School was establiched. 2016. KNU is comprised of 20 Colleges and schools, 14 graduate schools Location KNU is located in the city of Daegu, the third largest city in South Korea with a population of approximately 2.5 milion. Less than 2 hours from Seoul by express train, Daegu combines the best of modern and traditional Korea, being surrounded by major industries, such as Samsung and LG, and UNESCO world heritage sites of Gyengju and Haeinsa temple. Three presidents of Korea were born in this region, one of them is a KNU graduate.
