Fudan University Introduction Fudan University was founded in 1905 and located in the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai. It is under the direct jurisdiction of the State Ministry of Education, enjoys national construction priority. It is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary research university with many highly-ranked majors and programs. The University is attended by over 30,000 students. Fudan is one of the first few institutions in China to admit international students. Fudan admitted over 6400 international students in 2009, ranking top three among all comprehensive universities in China. At present, there are over 2000 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students, 600 advanced students, and 650 language students. Being one of the first few Chinese language teaching bases in China, Fudan University has been devoted to training international students to skillfully master the Chinese language and fully understand Chinese culture. As early as 1990, Fudan officially became the southern spot for national Chinese language test. In order to adapt to the needs of international cooperation, Fudan University is trying to develop English-taught programs to international students. Now there are over 10 English-taught Bachelor s and Master s programs accepting international students, including Chinese Politics and Diplomacy, Chinese Economy, Chinese Society, Chinese Language and Culture, Chinese History and
Culture, IMBA, Global Media and Management and a six-year English-taught undergraduate program in clinical medicine. It also accepts international students to learn Chinese language from two weeks to two years long. Fudan University is one of the earliest universities to accept Chinese government scholarship students.
