Camp Philosophy The Goal The goal of the Brown University Soccer Camp is to provide a positive learning environment for all participants. A competitive, but enjoyable atmosphere will be encouraged so that players are able to reach the standards that the coaching staff and players have set for themselves. A games approach to teaching individual technique will incorporate small group tactics to further develop each player. Coach Noonan and his staff have taught these fundamentals to young players in New England over the past sixteen years. Quick Facts Where? When? Who? Cost before 6/1 and after 6/1? Camp Experience? RI Soccer Academy at Portsmouth Abbey Youth Premier Boys & Girls Week Ages 9-14 Grades 5-8 Dates July 18-22 Fee: $480 After June 1: $510 (limited to 200 campers, teams of 6+: $450) Commuter Fee: $ 380 (9am - 9pm includes lunch and dinner) The first three (3) years of this camp have been well received by the participants. The beautiful surroundings, the age and quality of the campers has enabled us to attract an extremely qualified and enthusiastic coaching staff. With respect to the quality of facilities, participants and coaches, the Portsmouth Abbey week is quickly becoming a younger version of our Elite 125 camp. The camp will provide the youth player with the specific training needs for their age and ability. This program will emphasize technical skill development and small group tactics to help the younger player recognize situations presented in the later 11v11 evening matches. A terrific camp experience for the youth player ready to begin taking the game to the next competitive level. Boys Select Week at Portsmouth Abbey Camp Ages 14-18, Grades 9-12 (Must attend high school in 2004-2005 academic year) (No exceptions) August 6-10 Fee: $550 After June 1: $575 After July 1: $595 (limited to 200 campers, teams of 10+: $500) This highly competitive residential week although intense, provides a positive learning environment for each participant. Small and full-sided matches combined with individual technical and tactical training will challenge each camper to play at a faster pace. Although this camp is not limited to teams, it is a terrific opportunity for a team to receive first-rate instruction by a quality coaching staff. High School State Championship teams from various states in the region, including Rhode Island, Massachusettes, Connecticut and New York, have participated and benefited from this unique environment. A challenging curriculum and cutting edge training methods will enable each athlete to go home with new and improved skills and the motivation to maximize their potential. A unique feature of this camp is a Futures panel that will discuss playing opportunities in select clubs, ODP, college, and beyond; as well as a campus tour and informational session with Brown Admissions.

Boys adidas Elite 125 at Brown University Camp Ages 16-18, Grades 11-12 (Junior or Senior during 2004-2005 academic year) (no exceptions) Specifically designed for Elite Clubs, State, Regional & National Level Players. July 30 August 2 Fee: $525 After June 1: $550 After July 1: $575 (limited to 125 campers) In its fourth year the Brown/adidas elite week has established a reputation of delivering the best players to the next level. Participants from last years camp have been recruited by the top programs in the country at all NCAA Divisions I, II, & III. Conferences who have actively sought players from the camp include the Ivy League (all teams), Big East, ACC, Pac 10, Big 10 (Division 1) and the NESCAC (Division III). The four day camp will feature the top 125 applicants who are juniors or seniors from around the country and many parts of the world. The camp is geared towards developing the total soccer athlete who is committed to performing at the most demanding levels. Similar to the adidas Elite Soccer Program (ESP), this training ground will focus on match playing between the 8 teams in a competitive tournament setting. Each evening there will be an additional Elite All Star game based on your daily performance. Small sided games and training will supplement the matches with the emphasis being placed on small and large group tactics as well as refining technical skills at pace. In addition the camp will provide daily seminars covering topics ranging from strength and conditioning for the elite player, the psychology of success, time management skills for the college athlete, short and long term goal setting, positive self motivation and how to succeed in the admissions and recruiting process. There will be a college evaluation for each camper done by our staff and a college recruiting book will be compiled and given to each of our visiting college coaches. Finally, this is a rigorous elite program that does not guarantee a college scholarship or admission to an elite school. It is designed for those who want to compare themselves with the best. The staff will assure that opportunities will be equal but there is no quantifiable equality in playing time or All Star Match appearances. This is up to the sole discretion of the teaching staff. As part of the application submission we request a soccer resume and player recommendation written by a regional, state level, or premier club coach. Your application is not complete until such materials are provided.
