The Association rapidly grew up and nowadays it counts with 4000 members, which represent 90% of small animal veterinarians in Spain. During its almost 50 years of uninterrupted activity AVEPA has organized 50 National and 3 World Congresses. Since 2007 the AVEPA National Congress has been organized jointly with the SEVC (Southern European Veterinary Conference) with speakers of international caliber, attracting thousands of participants from all over Europe. In the international arena AVEPA made its presence by being member of WSAVA, actively taking part in the foundation of FECAVA (Federation of Companion Animal Veterinary Associations), and of FIAVAC (Iberoamerican Federation of Companion Animal Veterinary Associations). At present the headquarters for this Iberoamerican Federation (FIAVAC) is located in the AVEPA office. Annually, AVEPA organizes plenty of scientific activities along all the Spanish regions and about the majority of Small Animal clinical specialties in addition to Practice Management, Ethics in Veterinary Practice and Animal Welfare. AVEPA has also published a great number of
scientific monographies and the official journal of AVEPA Clínica Veterinaria de Pequeños Animales - (Clin. Vet. Peq. Anim.). Mission AVEPA Mission is to provide veterinarians and their staff the best scientific and human formation, in pursuit of professional excellence, and thereby contribute to the improvement of animal welfare. They can also benefit from a wide variety of non-cost CE courses or National Specialties Meeting conveniently spread out throughout the national territory all year long, and a very special price for AVEPA-SEVC Annual Congress. Membership also entitles access to a wide range of services and products offered to them at exclusive conditions, such as financial services, dog insurance, hip and elbow dysplasia certificate service, etc. and a bulletin board to advertise news, jobs and equipments. Avepa also offers to its members a new program of Specialties Accreditation; the program aims to recognize a level of clinical experience in a discipline, being the scope of recognition of the accreditation is unique within the association.
Yearly report 2016 o 10th SEVC (Southern European Veterinary Conference) 51st National Congress of AVEPA. Granada The SEVC started in 2007 and hosted yearly in Barcelona, is organized in conjunction with the National AVEPA Conference. SEVC has grown very rapidly, counting with renowned speakers and a fast increasing number of participants. For the first time, in 2016 the congress moved out from Barcelona and was held in Granada. It tooks place in October from 20th to 22 nd and It hosted around 200 talks in 7 conference rooms (all with simultaneous translation in Spanish and English and some rooms with Polish and Russian), more than 90 international speakers, 16 wet labs, 5 precongress symposia and more than 120 free communications in poster format which authors came from all over the world. The exhibition area counted with more than 120 companies. In the whole it attracted about 4,000 participants. You can find out more at http://sevc.info o 14 th Congress of Clinical Specialties. Ten parallel tracks and 17 specialties to include talks, seminars and working groups. Held in Zaragoza in 8-9 th April 2016, it hosted 1200 veterinarians and 22 specialized companies. More than eighty speakers participated giving more than 140 lectures. Specialties given: Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Behaviour, Veterinary Practice Management, Soft tissue surgery, Neurology, Feline Medicine, Internal Medicine, Imaging Diagnosis, Endoscopy, Oncology, Reproduction, Orthopedic surgery, Exotic Pets and Emergency medicine. This event is held yearly at different venues throughout the national territory, it offers an excellent platform for specialists to meet and share upto-date knowledge and experience. o Specialists Seminars organized In addition to the Specialities meeting, individual week-end seminars organized by the AVEPA specialist groups are scheduled for an in-depth meeting.

o AVEPA Official Scientific Journal Four numbers of the AVEPA Official Journal (Clínica Veterinaria de Pequeños Animales) have been published. o AVEPA E-learning program This program started in 2013 and presents different on line models of clinical cases, on line conferences, clinical flashes, clinical tricks, etc. to be worked on line. The program is free for the AVEPA members and they actively take advantage of this learning tool. o ON-LINE COURSES For the first time, in 2015, 4 full courses of four weeks each have been scheduled online. Nine-hundred AVEPA s membres have follow these courses. In 2016 other on-line courses, including the ones on Thoracic and Abdominal radiology were scheduled.
