Phase One: It s time to create! Today you get to learn how to create an online assignment. This can be a quiz, a test, a matching worksheet, essay assignment, or short answer reflection assignment.
Grading Options! Skyward can grade and enter the scores. You can grade and enter the scores.
NO PAPERS! Everything can be completed and recorded in Skyward! Students can t trade and share their papers & answers! (as easily!)
NO PAPERS! You don t have to drag papers home! You don t have to hand papers back! The tests/assignments are stored online!
Excited? How easy can this be?
Log in to Skyward & Open any class you teach
Click on the Other Access tab.
It should look like this:
Now click on the Online Assignment Templates tab.
A list opens up of all the assignments, quizzes, & tests that you have created!
Don t panic because you have nothing there yet! This is easily solved!
You can use assignments you created, or, you can clone from another teacher in your district that has already created something you may use.
Back to the screen that had the options Click on Add. You can add an assignment or test from here
Or, you can click on the Assignments Tab and then Add Assignment.
From this screen you can categorize as a Test, Quiz, Homework, etc.
You can also click on Options. Try that!
Click on Create Online Assignment.
Add a description, directions, expectations, randomize questions Then, click on Save & Add Questions
Check the boxes that match your preferences. The Options are: Random Questions: Shuffles the question order for each student. Auto Score: This will correct the test or assignment and enter the score directly into the Skyward Gradebook Show Correct Answers: Displays the answers after the test or assignment is completed. Questions per page: I suggest 5 or less. Limits what a student at an adjacent computer can view.
Choose the type of question you want to create, and then type in your first question.
Write your question, answers, and mark your correct choice. Click Save & Add Another.
Try a True or False Question. Then click Save & Add Another.
With short answer questions, you have to anticipate responses, but you have an opportunity to review & grade.
Save, Add Another, Repeat! When you are finished with your last question, click the Save and Back button.
Next slide Click the Save and Back button on this one too! And on the next slide, click the Back button.
Congratulations! You have created an online assignment template! Now you may assign your test, quiz, or assignment to the class or classes of your choice!
So, how do I post an online assignment to a class or multiple classes? In My Gradebook select one of your classes. Click the Assignments tab. Select the Add Assignment option.
It should look like this:
Enter the Category & Description Information
On the right side, click Options.
Click: Copy from My Assignment Template.
Select the assignment template Click the Clone to Assignment button.
Click the calendar icons to set the Start & Stop dates & times.
Almost Finished! Click the Save & Back button Click the Save & Back button again. Congratulations! You have created and posted an online assignment!
My kids just like to look at pictures! So, give them a test with pictures! Great for Tool Identification Tests! Great for how to read measurements testing!

To create the picture question Go to the Question Maintenance page (add a question) and type in a question, or just add a picture. Click on the View Style Toolbar Click on the picture icon. Browse for a picture you have saved or you can use the steps in the handout more complicated be careful about edit & adding

A Short Answer Test Online for students that were absent and missed the video and handout in class. They watched it on YouTube and did the test online.
Lots of Options! It s up to you and how much work you want to put into it!
Can You Clone An Assignment From Another Teacher? Yes & No Within your district not a problem! Across the state? I don t know why they can t allow us to do that!

Choices Menu is now by schools. Drop down menu actually shows other districts but nothing shows up.
You can clone from someone else I often do that and then rename and modify it to better fit my needs, if it s something real close to what I was looking for. I try to credit whoever created the original.
Students have to log into Skyward Student & Family Access Current Assignments button on left column of screen.
Students Click on Current Assignments
Student Access Log-in Info? From your class gradebook page, click on the little icon before the name of the student you need info for. Their Log-in name and password are listed about mid-section of the page.
To begin the assignment After the student clicks the Current Assignments link A list of assignments opens. They choose the assignment to work on and click on the Answer Questions link. They complete and submit for grading.
Grading! If every question was Multiple Choice and/or True/False, Skyward will automatically grade the assignment and enter it into gradebook. The student will instantly be able to see their grade(s).
Grading! If the assignment requires you to review the answer and grade the responses, you will have to open another screen. Go to the class in gradebook and click on the top of the grade column you need to review.
If the student has been graded and needs to retake the test, click Allow Student to Resume.
If you need to, you can also print a hard copy of the online assignment. Click on Reports & this screen opens:
Analyze Student Responses by Question. Click on the Online Assignment Header.
Hover over the Report button. Click the Online Assignment Reports
Online Assignment Reports Next to Report Type, select Online Assignment Analysis. Click print A PDF report will display how every student answered each question.
