APPLICATION DEADLINE Complete admission portfolio must be submitted to Rufus King International High School no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013. A complete admission portfolio includes: 1. Portfolio cover application 2. Copy of final 7 th grade report card (June 2013, including attendance) 3. Proof of participation in extracurricular/service activity; these include: Letter from a coach on letterhead Copy of certificate of participation Copy of official program roster Copy of group/team photograph with names printed 4. If applicable: MYP successful completion form 5. If applicable: copy of current IEP or 504 plan 6. Language & Math Assessment at Rufus King: Attendance is mandatory at one of these sessions: Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 6 p.m. A complete admission portfolio must include all four (or five) of the above components; only complete admission portfolios will be considered. Please note: These items will be retained; they will not be returned. Admission portfolios are due to Rufus King no later than Monday, October 28, 2013 at 5 p.m. Portfolios can be turned in on either testing day. SELECTION PROCESS Each complete admission portfolio will be evaluated to a maximum of 25 points. Acceptance to Rufus King International High School will be based on the number of points awarded on the individual s admission portfolio. REMINDER All students must attend one of the assessment sessions: Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 9 a.m. OR Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 6 p.m. All applicants must complete a portfolio application cover form and submit all required documents (grades, attendance, and extracurricular verification) by Monday, October 28, 2013 at 5 p.m. Students and parents are responsible for submitting all materials directly to Rufus King International High School. Staff will be available to accept complete admissions portfolios at Rufus King International High School during both testing sessions. Applicants should make every effort to submit complete admission portfolios at this time. Complete admissions portfolios will be accepted at the school office 8 a.m. 4 p.m. All complete admissions portfolios must be submitted no later than Monday, October 28, 2013 at 5 p.m. Faxed, e-mailed, or mailed applications will not be accepted. Upon submission of the application, a signed receipt will be issued. Please do not lose the carbon as it serves as your proof of submission of a complete admission portfolio. PARENTS, PLEASE READ! PADRES, LEAN POR FAVOR!* On the day your child comes in for testing: 1. Please enter the building at either the Olive Street or 19 th Street entrance. 2. Upon entering, make sure your child picks up a ticket indicating the room s/he is to report to for testing. 3. If your child has a disability/iep/504 plan and requires special needs testing, s/he should report to room 205. 4. Parents should report to the cafeteria during testing. Please be mindful that Monday, October 28, 2013 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for complete admission portfolios. 5. If you intend to turn in your child s admission portfolio while your child is testing, pick up a numbered ticket so we can call you when we are able to process your child s complete admission portfolio. 6. If you intend to wait for your child during testing, wait in the cafeteria. 7. If you will not be present, and your child will turn in his/her own admission portfolio, s/he should report to the cafeteria immediately after testing to turn in the complete admission portfolio. When turning in the complete admission portfolio: Know we are not able to make copies of application or other documents. Please be sure you have copies of all documents as all documents submitted in the portfolio will not be returned. You will receive a receipt verified by a Rufus King staff member; this will serve as proof of your turning in a complete admission portfolio by the deadline. Please do not lose this receipt. Because of the volume of portfolios we process, we do not accept incomplete admission portfolios. The complete admission portfolio, including all documents, must be submitted at one time.
