The focus of this unit will be to meet the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade standards listed below. This assignment was also designed to get students excited about Tall Tales. Students will complete several activities in order to address the essential questions of the unit. Students will indentify characteristics of a Tall Tale and be able to locate examples of exaggerations in a story. Students will listen to podcasts of "Elements of Tall Tales", and "Examples of Tall Tales" before beginning this unit. Students will work collaboratively in groups to create a voice thread, then share their finished product on the Smart Board for the class to watch. Students will make a "Tall Tale" word cloud and word chain to display with their own tall tale. This unit is highly interactive by incorporating the Web 2.0 tools of Voice Thread, Animoto and Podcasts. This will teach students how Tall Tales are and were related to real world situations and real people that over time were exaggerated. Essential Questions What is a Tall Tale?
