TEACHER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: 1. Teacher Registration, Login and Reset password: Teacher registration functionality allows teachers to self-register and manage students in the Connecting Math Concepts (CMC) application. When the application is hosted on ConnectED, this feature is provided by ConnectED interface. Enter your Username and Password to log in to ConnectED: Page 3 of 54

ConnectED Help: Click on HELP at the top right of the screen after you have logged in to ConnectED to access PDF files of: Quick Start Guides that show how to gain access to and begin using ConnectED, Full User Guides to help you understand how to use ConnectED, and How-To Tutorials to help you to Register, Access Program Content, and Manage and Assign. 3. Group Management: All students must be assigned to a group in order to receive an assignment. The Group Management feature allows authorized users to create, edit, and delete group details. Users can add students to an existing group or to a new group and remove students from an existing group. a. Creating a New Group: Click the Group List Add/Edit button to access the Group Management feature. Page 5 of 54

Click the Add/Edit Group button to create a new group. This opens a pop-up window that allows the user to create a new group name. Page 6 of 54

Type a Group Name and click the Add/Edit button to save to the list of Existing Groups. Page 7 of 54

Click the Clear button to clear a group name added to the Group Name field. Click the Close button to close the pop-up and go back to the Teacher Management interface. Page 8 of 54

b. Editing Existing Group Details: i. Click the Add/Edit Group button. Page 9 of 54

This opens a pop-up window. Select the Group Name from the Existing Groups list. Page 10 of 54

Edit the Group Name and click the Add/Edit button. Click the Close button to close the pop-up window. Page 11 of 54

c. Deleting Existing Group Details: i. Click the Add/Edit Group button. Page 12 of 54

ii. This opens a pop-up window. Page 13 of 54

iii. Select a group name from the list and click the Delete button to delete an existing group. Page 14 of 54

iv. This opens a warning pop-up to confirm the deletion action. Click OK to confirm the deletion, or Cancel to go back to the Add/Edit Group pop-up. Page 15 of 54

d. Moving Students to a Group: i. Click the Group List Add/Edit button on the left navigation menu. Page 16 of 54

ii. The available students are listed in the Student List in the left pane. iii. Select the students you want to add to the group from the Student List. Page 17 of 54

iv. Select a group from the Group List. v. Click the Add to Group button. Page 18 of 54

vi. Selected users will be added to the Group List on the right side. Page 19 of 54

e. Removing Students from a Group: i. Click the Group List Add/Edit button on the left navigation bar to display the Student List and Group List. ii. If the user wants to remove a student from the group, select a Group Name from the Group List drop-down menu. Page 20 of 54

iii. Select the student name(s) in the Group List and click Remove from Group button. This places the student back in the pool of available students for reassignment to a different group. iv. To select all students to move at once, check the Select All box. Page 21 of 54

4. Activity Assignment: a. Assigning Activities/Activity Block to Groups: i. To assign activities or activity block to a group, click the View/Edit Assignments button on the left navigation menu. ii. Select a group from the Group dropdown menu. Page 22 of 54

iii. All students in that group are displayed in the Student List. iv. Select one student, or multiple students, or select all students from the group to whom you wish to assign activities. To assign activities, click on the student name(s) in the Student List. Note: Multiple student selection can be made for the initial assignment. v. Select the Level from Level Selection dropdown menu. Page 23 of 54

vi. Select the Block to be assigned. All Connecting Math Concepts activities are divided into blocks. The list of activities is displayed in the Activities list screen for the selected Block. vii. Select the activities to be assigned and click the ASSIGN button. Page 24 of 54

viii. Click the CANCEL button to clear the activity selection. Note: Any block that has been assigned to that group by the teacher will have a yellow star in front of the block name. Page 25 of 54

b. Assigning Math Fact Activities to a Group: In addition to the activity blocks, teachers can also assign activities from the Math Facts strand. i. To assign Activities or an Activity Block to the groups, click View/Edit Assignments. ii. Select a group from the Group dropdown menu. iii. All students in that group are displayed in the Student List. Page 26 of 54

iv. Select all students from the group to whom you wish to assign the block. To assign activities to an individual student in the group, click the student s name in the Student List. v. Select the Level from level selection dropdown menu. vi. Select the Block to be assigned. All Connecting Math Concepts activities are divided into blocks. The list of Math Fact Activities is displayed in the Activities list on screen. Page 27 of 54

vii. Click the Math Fact Activity from the list. This opens a pop-up with list of all math facts for the block. viii. Select the Math Fact Activity to be assigned and click the Assign/Update button. Page 28 of 54

c. Activity Reassignment: i. To reassign activities, click the View/Edit Assignments button on the left navigation menu. ii. Select a group from the Group dropdown menu. iii. All students in that group are displayed in the Student List. Page 29 of 54

iv. To reassign an Activity to individual students in the group, click a student s name in the Student List. v. Select the Level from Level Selection dropdown menu. Page 30 of 54

vi. Select the Block to be assigned. vii. Select the Activity previously assigned to and completed by the student to be reassigned. (Activity completion status can be tracked from Student Activity Reports). Only one Activity may be selected at a time for Reassignment. This displays a pop-up with Reassign and Cancel. viii. Click the Reassign button to reassign the activity to the student. A confirmation pop-up will appear. ix. Click the Cancel button to close the pop-up window. Note: Only completed activities may be reassigned. d. Math Fact Activity Reassignment: i. To reassign activities, click the View/Edit Assignments button on the left navigation menu. Page 32 of 54

ii. Select a group from the Group dropdown menu. iii. All students in that group are displayed in the Student List. Page 33 of 54

iv. To reassign an activity to individual students in the group, click a student s name in the Student List. v. Select the Level from level selection dropdown menu. Page 34 of 54

vi. Select the Block to be assigned. vii. Select the Math Fact Activity previously assigned to and completed by the student to be reassigned. (Activity completion status can be tracked from Student Math Facts Reports). Click the Assign/Update button to reassign the Math Fact Activity. The Cancel button will be disabled. Page 35 of 54

viii. This displays a pop-up with Reassign and Cancel. ix. Click the Reassign button to reassign the activity to the student. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Page 36 of 54

e. Deletion of an Activity Assignment: i. Delete an Activity Not Started by Student: 1. Select an assigned activity that a student has not started. (Activity status can be tracked from Student Activity Reports). 2. This displays a pop-up with Delete and Cancel. 3. Click the Delete button to delete the activity which has not been started. A warning pop-up with confirmation will appear. 4. Click the Cancel button to close the pop-up window. Page 37 of 54

ii. Delete an Activity Partially Completed by Student: 1. Select an assigned activity that a student has partially completed. (Activity completion status can be tracked from Student Activity Reports). Only one activity may be deleted at a time. 2. A pop-up will appear with the message, Activity in progress. Clicking delete will erase student s attempt. Are you sure you want to delete? 3. Click the Delete button to confirm deletion. 4. Click the Cancel button to close the pop-up window. Page 38 of 54

iii. Delete a Math Fact Activity Not Started by Student: 1. Select the Math Fact Activity previously assigned to the student that has not been started. (Activity completion status can be tracked from Student Activity Reports). This opens a pop-up with a list of Math Fact activities. Assign/Update will be disabled, and Cancel will be enabled. 2. Click Cancel to delete the Math Fact Activity assignment. A pop-up with Delete and Cancel will appear. Page 39 of 54

3. Click the Delete button to confirm deletion. 4. Click the Cancel button to close the pop-up. iv. Delete a Math Fact Activity Partially Completed by Student: 1. Select a Partially Completed Math Fact Activity. 2. This opens a pop-up with warning message Activity in progress. Clicking delete will erase student s attempt. Are you sure you want to delete? 3. Click the Delete button to delete the Math Fact Activity. 4. Click the Cancel button to close the pop-up. Page 40 of 54

5. Reports: a. Accessing Student Activity Report: 1. To access individual student activity reports, click the Student Activity Reports button. 2. Select a Level, Group, and Student. Then click the Show Report button. Page 41 of 54

3. The selected student s performance report is displayed in the grid in reverse chronological order. Note: The reports generated will include the following: 1. Activity Status: If the activity was assigned, it will have a yellow star icon next to it. After an activity is completed, the whole line will be greyed out. Incomplete activities will be indicated by half filled circle icon next to it. If the activity is not started, it will have empty circle next to it. 2. Date: Displays date of the assigned activity. 3. Time on Task: This will be the total amount of time within an activity. Tutorial time will not be counted. 4. Inactivity: If a student is inactive for 30 seconds, the last question will be repeated. And, 2.5 minutes later, the activities will time out. 5. Bookmark: If a student s session ends in the middle of an activity, the activity will be bookmarked and the student will continue from where he/she left off. If the activity is bookmarked, the time will start from where is left off, as well. 6. Timeout: If a student leaves the application idle for more than 30 seconds, the VO will repeat and an Hourglass animation will appear on the screen for 2.5 minutes, and will be timed out. When they return to the activity, the activity and timer will pick up from where it left off. It will display the total active time of student in the activity. 7. Mastery Rate: Mastery will be reported as Fast, Medium, and Slow. Each activity will have Mastery Rate criteria. If a student s mastery rate is slow, then the teacher will have the option to reassign the activity. 8. Accuracy: Accuracy will be reported as a percentage indicating the number of questions a student answers correctly on the first try. Page 42 of 54

b. Accessing Student Math Fact Report: 4. To access individual student math fact activity reports, click the Student Math Facts Reports button. 5. Select a Level, Group, and Student. Then click the Show Report button. Page 43 of 54

Completed activities are indicated by a filled circle, incomplete activities are indicated by a half-filled circle, and activities that have not been started are indicated by an empty circle. 2. Date: The date of the assigned Math Fact Activity is displayed. 3. Number Correct on First Try: Total number of correct answers by student on first attempt. 4. Facts Missed: Total number of facts student answered incorrectly. 5. Mastery Rate: Mastery rate is reported as Fast, Medium, and Slow. 6. Average Response Time per Fact: Average time student spent for attempting each answer. 7. Fact Missed detail: Clicking on Facts Missed will display a pop-up window with details. Page 44 of 54

c. Accessing Group Report: 1. To access group reports, click the Group Reports button on the left navigation. 2. Select Level in the Level Group dropdown menu. All groups in the selected level are displayed in the first column, and the blocks in the selected level are displayed across the top row. Page 45 of 54

3. Click an individual group s bar graph for a Performance Summary of each student. *Note: This data reflects student s progress toward completion of assigned activities. d. Printing Reports: 1. Print reports by clicking the Print Report button. Page 46 of 54

6. Preview Activity: 1. To view the activity list or to try any of the activities, click the Activity List/Try Out button. 2. Select Level from level selection dropdown menu. Select an Activity Block from the list. Page 47 of 54

3. The activity thumbnail and a short description are displayed on the screen. To play the activity, click the Activity Thumbnail. This opens an activity preview in pop-up. 7. Help and Exit: a. Accessing Help Menu: 1. Click the Help button available on right hand corner of the application to access the Help Guide. Page 48 of 54

b. Using Exit Option: 1. Click the Exit button available on right hand corner of the application to exit the application. Page 49 of 54

STUDENT SYSTEM: 1. Student Login: A student may login using his or her ConnectED Username and Password. 2. View Level Selection Page and Student Progress Map: a. After logging in, a student sees his or her Progress Map if only one Level has assigned. The student will click on an assigned activity, designated by a white icon (a pearl in Level A/B, a fuel pellet in Level C). Page 50 of 54

b. If activities from multiple levels are assigned, a student will see the Level Selection Page. After selecting a Level, a student will be directed to the Progress Map. c. Students may return to the Level Selection page by clicking the link in the upper left hand corner of the Progress Map. Page 51 of 54

d. If a student logs in, but he or she does not have an assignment or activity to complete, a pop-up with the message No Activity Assigned, will display. 3. Launching an Activity: a. A student can launch an activity by clicking an assigned activity, designated by a white icon (a pearl in Level A/B, a fuel pellet in Level C) on the Progress Map. Page 52 of 54

b. Activities are launched in a pop-up on top of the Progress Map. c. After completing the activity, the student exits by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner. d. Upon exit, student is directed back to Progress Map where the completed activity icon will be blacked out, and a reward animation will display. In Level E reward animation, music will be played. Sound Effects by Getty Images. e. The completed activity number will appear in the oyster s mouth (Level A/B) or in the jetboard (Level C). It will display only the last four completed activities. 4. Flow of Progress Map and Track Activity Progress: a. Activity status is indicated to student through 3 types of icons displayed on the Progress Map. A black icon indicates that the student has completed an assigned activity. A white icon indicates that the activity is assigned to the student, and that the student has not yet completed the assignment. A gray icon indicates that the activity is not assigned to the student. b. If the teacher reassigns an Activity, the completed black icon will become a white icon on the student s Progress Map. c. If a student leaves an activity idle for more than 30 seconds the voice-over will repeat, and an hourglass will appear on the screen for 2.5 minutes before the activity times out. When the student returns to the activity, the activity will resume. d. If the student has no more assigned activities, he or she may close the browser to exit the application. e. If a student exits an activity before completing it, the activity will be bookmarked. When he or she returns to the activity, the activity will resume. Once an activity is complete, the status is updated in the Reports section of the Teacher Management System. Page 54 of 54
