MGT302 Modern Organizational Theory Credit Hours: 3 Contact Hours: This is a 3-credit course, offered in accelerated format. This means that 16 weeks of material is covered in 8 weeks. The exact number of hours per week that you can expect to spend on each course will vary based upon the weekly coursework, as well as your study style and preferences. Course Description and Outcomes Course Description: This course consists of a study of organizational theories and their application in addressing problems and challenges in organizational strategies, operations, and processes. The course includes environmental, organizational design and organizational change perspectives. Topics include analyzing organizational effectiveness, stakeholders, ethical issues, authority, control, hierarchies, bureaucracies, technology, change, transformation, decision making, knowledge management, innovation and conflict management. Upon completing this course students should be able to identify and explain various aspects of how organizations design their structures, strategies and operations for improving effectiveness. Course Overview: Topics include analyzing organizational effectiveness, stakeholders, ethical issues, authority, control, hierarchies, bureaucracies, technology, change, transformation, decision making, knowledge management, innovation and conflict management. Upon completing this course students should be able to identify and explain various aspects of how organizations design their structures, strategies and operations for improving effectiveness. Included in this course are discussion questions, Critical Thinking Assignments, and a final Portfolio Project.
