We won t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Mind employs over 300 staff and we have a team of volunteers. Most staff are based in Stratford, London, there is an office in Cardiff and there are a number of dispersed staff working across England and Wales. You will join Mind at an exciting time, as we begin implementation of our 2017-21 digital strategy. As Digital Content Officer, you will play a key role in achieving our digital vision: A digital experience that prioritises the needs of people with mental health problems, by offering consistent support through the most helpful and accessible channels, and strengthens long term engagement with Mind. All members of the Digital team work across the organisation, and with people with lived experience and other external partners, to establish a new digital culture at Mind and contribute to the three aims of our digital strategy: 1. Digital provision of services and support for people living with a mental health problem: beneficiaries understand the options available to them at any touchpoint and feel empowered to access support and information in the way that suits them. 2. Digital activities that help us reach our marketing and/or income generation objectives: we will deliver a consistent, coherent experience for our external audiences and seamless supporter conversions.

The use of digital technology to improve the way Mind works: a consistent and reliable infrastructure and strong skills base, which recognises the power of technology to help us to meet our charitable objectives and achieve efficiencies. Scope of the job Reporting to the Digital Content & Marketing Manager, you will focus on producing excellent content across our digital channels (website, social media, email and digital marketing), and play an important role in developing, testing, and reporting on innovative digital content. As one of two Digital Content Officers, you will work collaboratively with staff across Mind and other stakeholders and external contacts, making sure that content produced is on brand and quality is consistent. You will support the digital team in covering other areas of work where needed, including communication with our external moderation agency and digital responses to external activity. Mind aims to ensure that our strategy and all our activities fully reflect the needs and interests of mental health service users, women, black and minority ethnic communities, vulnerable migrants, people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer or transgender, and people with physical, cognitive or sensory impairments, with mobility impairments, or with learning difficulties, with full regard to their age, background and personal circumstances. You will be expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities 1. Working from internal briefs, you will produce content across all digital channels, ensuring that it is optimised by format and channel to maximise impact to key audiences. 2. Support the Senior Content Officer and Communications team to ensure that communications are consistent and on brand, including some social media moderation support (largely managed by an external partner). 3. Be a champion for our Supporter Engagement strategy and identify opportunities to work collaboratively improve the supporter experience and create more integrated and tailored journeys. 4. Work with Data and Digital colleagues on developing on-going reporting to optimise content performance and develop insights to inform future activity. 5. Work closely with key stakeholder teams to respond to risks or opportunities, to support a consistent and coordinated approach and protect Mind s brand. 6. Support the Communications and Marketing team to develop their skills and experience in digital content development, providing best practice and regular feedback.
7. Regularly review the digital environment, monitor emerging channels and innovative formats to ensure Mind is maximizing reach and impact. 8. Contribute to the development of a digital learning programme for staff, including the development of training and resources for the local Mind network. 9. Ensure Mind s branding and brand values are applied consistently throughout communications from Mind. 10. Ensure that our digital content involves people with mental health problems from a range of diverse backgrounds, and that appropriate advice and support is given to those involved with Mind s work. EXPECTATIONS 1 To keep up to date with developments in digital technology, digital marketing and fundraising techniques and sector trends. 2 To adhere to professional standards and legislation in relation to fundraising, marketing and data management. 3 Keep abreast of internal and external developments and respond accordingly. 4 To attend and contribute to supervision and appraisal process, meetings, training, and other events as required. 5 To adhere to relevant legal and statutory requirements including the Data Protection Act (ensuring an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times), Health and Safety at Work Act (ensuring H&S of own and others at all times) and any other relevant/charity law. 6 To travel to meetings in England and Wales, which may require the need to work unsociable hours e.g. attending evening or weekend meetings or for overnight stay. 7 To ensure that all responsibilities and activities within this post are in accordance with the terms and spirit of Mind s mission, vision, values, objectives, policies, procedures and practices. 8 To undertake other duties that may be necessary in compatible with the nature of this post and this will flexibility in undertaking the role. Person specification: Digital Content Officer Essential criteria Experience 1 Proven ability in developing digital content for different audiences across online communications, with demonstrable skills in being clear and concise. 2 Demonstrable experience of maintaining and protecting an organisation s brand in a variety of formats. 3 Ability to work independently and proactively, to prioritise work and meet deadlines with welldeveloped time management skills. 4 Excellent IT skills, including using Content Management Systems, social media tools, HTML and web analytics. 5 Experience of working with vulnerable groups and being sensitive to their needs. 6 Willingness and ability to work unsocial hours occasionally to monitor and respond to digital activity, and to take action as required. 7 Demonstrable understanding and commitment to Mind s work, aims and objectives. Knowledge 1 Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 2 Experience in Audio/Visual content production 3 Ability to use digital and other types of data to monitor performance and produce actionable insights. 4 Understanding of user-centred design, and how to develop content in line with user needs and accessibility issues.
