Isaac Szlechter Isaac has been a professional photographer for many years. He rounded up his photographic education at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, where he took many courses and attended many lectures, including Nikon classes. His published work includes magazines, periodicals and illustrations of articles, such as Popular Mechanics, Popular Sciences and many others. He was a member of the Trump Village Camera Club, where he won many awards and prizes. He has judged on all NYC boroughs, including Manhattan Miniature Camera Club several times. Subsequently when he moved to Manhattan, He become a member of Park West Camera Club, where he also won many prizes and awards. I ve loved photography all my life, he says. and it has been an important part of my life. Recommendation for MMCC members by June Steffensen Hagen ICP s current shows are worth a few hours but they close May 9, 2010, so you ll have to scurry over there (43rd and 6th Ave.) as Jim and I did a few days ago. We were puzzled at first by the work of Miroslav Tichy, but after about ½ of the video which included many comments by citizens of his own town in Czechoslovakia which provided a fuller sense of the man, we began to see a strange beauty, even a touching humanity in the work of this very strange man. If you do nothing else, spend time Manhattan Miniature Camera Club Officers President: Betsy Currier Vice President: Richard Pinto Secretary: Julia La Fontaine Treasurer: Maria Buncick Board of Directors Janet Bachant Bob Burns Cate Franklyn Maria Howard Julia La Fontaine Carol Ivanick Richard Pinto June Steffenson-Hagen The Manhattan Miniature Camera Club of New York, Inc., founded in 1933, generally meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at Community Church of New York, 28 East 35th Street, at 6:30 pm. Guests welcome! Some of members belong to the Photographic Society of America. For information about joining PSA, go to www.psa-photo.org. with the two display cases of his mainly homemade, sometimes cobbled-together equipment. B&H it is not; but photographic equipment it is! And what a model of recycling! Downstairs, the two shows on Paris, which include a number of classic images, and the one of Alan Stone s Senses of Place also intrigue.
