WAYNE COUNTY SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: QUALIFICATIONS: REPORTS TO: JOB GOAL: Assistant Principal/Career Technical Education/Communications/Secondary Ed. Master s Degree, Administrative Certificate; Minimum of three years teaching experience. School Principal Assist the school principal in all areas of administration which will include but not be limited to curriculum, scheduling, student records, finance and accounting, extra duty assignments, student discipline, supervision of instructional programs, inservice of new staff members, supervision of extracurricular activities, and public relations. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as temporary administrator of the school in the absence of the principal. Perform and/or assist with other related tasks as assigned by the principal. A. Provide leadership and support in the implementation of an instructional program meeting federal, state and county guidelines. (1) Ensure that all subjects are being taught in accordance with federal, state and county curricular guidelines. (2) Facilitate the use of additional resources in instruction. (3) Supervise the content and technique of classroom instruction. B. Establish and maintain a school climate conducive to learning and teaching.
(1) Maintain an orderly school environment. (2) Maintain a safe and clean building environment. (3) Supervise personnel in developing and maintaining orderly classroom environments. (4) Implement a system of recording and monitoring attendance. C. Establish and/or implement a system for monitoring student progress at the school building level. (1) Implement the county system of maintaining and reporting student records. (2) Assist teachers in the selection of student evaluation techniques that match their intent for instruction. (3) Establish and maintain a system for reporting feedback to students and parents concerning student progress. (4) Utilize standardized and criterion-reference evaluation results to enhance instruction. D. Establish and implement a school improvement process. (1) Provide opportunities for staff development related to curriculum and instruction, including Career and Technical Education. (2) Assess the status of curriculum, instruction, and the general operation of the school and develop and implement plans for improvement. E. Establish and/or maintain an environment conducive to good student, employee, and public relations. (1) Communicate with parents concerning school operation and student progress. (2) Provide for public involvement in school operations.
(3) Practice constructive communication with staff and students. (4) Maintain professional work characteristics in dealing with employees and supervisors. F. Implement a system of monitoring the performance of supervised personnel. (1) Implement the county evaluation policy and procedures. G. Establish and/or maintain a system of financial management to meet all federal, state and county accounting procedures. (1) Establish and implement accounting procedures for the hot lunch and general fund accounts. (2) Implement a purchasing and receiving system according to regulations. H. Maintain professional work habits. (1) Display administrative skills necessary to complete duties. I. Maintain and/or upgrade professional skills in administration. (1) Participate in staff development activities. J. Shall perform other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisors and/or Superintendent. CTE: 1. Supervise all Career and Technical Education (CTE) federal, state, and county accountability Measures. 2. Supervise reporting process for the federal, state, and county Data Management System. 3. Work with county CTE Director on the Local Education Agency (LEA) plans. 4. Supervise the administration for all CTE testing. 5. Supervise and assure the use of Key Train for Preparation on the work keys testing.
6. Supervise coordination of all Career and Technical Education student clubs and Organizations and attend (as schedule permits) Regional, state, and/or National Competitions. 7. Work with county CTE Director to supervise and coordinate permissive use of funds for: A. Perkins Grant B. State Vocational Grant C. Equipment Replacement Grant D. CTE Travel Grant E. Step 7 Allotment Funds F. Any and all special CTE grant funds such as Project Lead the Way, Modernization, etc. G. Supervise and coordinate travel reimbursement and substitutes for CTE and the school CTE programs. 8. Supervise all CTE Programs of Study/ Concentrations offered at the school. 9. Supervise and coordinate the freshman CTE Career Awareness foundation course at the school. 10. Work with Mountwest Community College and Robert C. Byrd Center for evening and summerclass opportunities. 11. Supervise mandated CTE school and individual CTE concentration advisory council. 12. Supervise the integration of any concentrations at the school. 13. Conduct staff development for CTE. 14. Attend State CTE Conferences. 15. Serve on CTE related boards, consortiums, and teams at the local, regional, and/or state level. 16. Coordinate and collaborate with the Special Ed. Department to meet the CTE needs of exceptional needs students with disabilities. 17. Demonstrate and maintain up to date extensivecomputer programs knowledge and
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: the ability to use technology. 18. Supervise and coordinate Spring Valley High School and district wide feeder schools communication systems linked with: television, radio, newspapers, print media, websites, electronic newsletter/ list serv, social media, electronic and regular billboard. 19. To communicate content management and Public relations with the County Wide CTE Director/Content Communications Manager and work with communications staff and Principals at Tolsia, Wayne, and Spring Valley High Schools. 20. All public relations and communications Content management for public release MUST be authorized by County Superintendent. Number Days Employment as per county policy. Varies depending on assignment. SALARY: EVALUATION: As per state and county salary schedule for assistant principal. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Wayne County Board s policy on evaluation.
