The compact campus is situated on 16.70 acres nestled in the Loma Portal section of Point Loma, an area made up of residential homes and small businesses. The original school was first rebuilt in 1976, and additions have been added under Propositions MM and S/Z. The school consists of 19 permanent buildings; the masonry construction is ideal for noise mitigation from overhead aircraft. The total building area is approximately 250,000 square feet. The nearly 2,000 Point Loma students have access to a state-of-the art motion picture facility, newly renovated music room, auto shop, media center, and performing arts center. Point Loma High also features a football stadium with an all-weather track, softball field, gym, and new weight room. Future Projects: Stadium lighting is scheduled to begin installation Fall 2016. Whole Site Modernization is planned to begin Spring 2018, that will include a new library/media center and classroom building. Updated October 2017

Point Loma HS Two-story Classroom Building Completed: January 2011 Funded by: Proposition S and Overcrowded Relief Grant (ORG) A 15,358-square-foot, two-story classroom building replaced existing district portables. The permanent structure comes equipped with i21 technology upgrades and also houses sports medicine examination and rehabilitation areas that will be utilized by participants in the school s College, Career & Technical Education (CCTE) Sports Medicine Program. Point Loma HS Woodshop to Music Room Conversion Completed exterior Pre-construction Completed: October 2012 Funding: Proposition S The 3,785-square-foot wood shop area (consisting of three existing classrooms and four existing storage rooms) was renovated and converted into the new Dr. Dan Nelson Music Center, complete with acoustical and noise reduction upgrades. Point Loma HS Weight Room Completed: May 2012 Funded by: Proposition S and Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe's Toolbox for Education Champions Grant Completed building Located adjacent to the football field and track, the new 3,190-square-foot weight room features workout stations and an area for agility drills. The weight room s exercise equipment was funded by a Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe's Toolbox for Education Champions Grant and is utilized by athletes and physical education classes. Point Loma HS Athletic Infrastructure Relocation Completed: September 2016 Funding: Proposition Z This project main purpose was to facilitate safe stadium operations and to complete maintenance and warranty repair work of the following athletic items: Convert track from 440 yards to 400 meters Relocate Pole Vault, Long/Triple Jump and High Jump Convert east D-zone area to track surface Resurface oval track and runway (maintenance work) These new areas were designed and built with appropriate field and track requirements as well as new storm drainage systems. All surfaces were repainted and restriped according to site plans.

Point Loma HS Stadium Lighting and PA System Estimated Date of Completion: Fall 2017 Funding: Proposition Z and State Funds (Lighting) The Lighting and PA system upgrade at Point Loma High School will include improvements to the stadium and athletic fields. This phase of work includes the following: Installation of Field Lighting and Grandstand (bleacher) Lighting Installation of PA System Installation of an Electrical Unit Substation Renderings show placement of Lighting and PA systems

Point Loma HS New Library/Media Center & Classrooms Estimated Date of Completion: Spring 2022 Funding: Propositions S and Z Part of Point Loma High School s Whole Site Modernization, the existing 25,000-square-foot, two-story 800 building will be demolished and replaced with a three-story, 38,000-square-foot building with a library/media center on the ground floor, 10 classrooms on the second floor, and 10 classrooms on the third floor. The building will provide an integrated assemblage of classrooms and academic support spaces, modernize an aging building, and help create an updated look and feel to the campus.
