Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany Monitored and audited by the Association of German Chambers (DIHK) Implemented by the Hellenic German Chamber of Commerce and Industry What Is the scope of the project? To absorb as best as possible elements of the German dual education system to the Greek education system on vocational educational training by SETTING UP a VET program In which professions will the school operate? Mechatronics vehicles technician Technician on Electronic appliances How much does the education last? 2 years ( 1-2 days in the school, 3-4 days training at the company) When does it start? December 2016 60 apprentices 2 classes Which are the next moves? Which are the partners of the project? In partnership with the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), TU Berlin, TUI subsidiary Robinson Club, the German-Greek Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), OAED the Manpower Organisation and Dekra Akademie, the MENDI Mentoring Dual International pilot project has been launched. The project is funded by the German federal Ministry and Dekra Akademie GmbH. What is the project? The objective of the initiative is the introduction of specifically selected elements of the German system into this growing Greek industry as models to build upon. Since 2013, an OAED school operates on high standard criteria in the tourism sector. In which professions will the school operate? Hotel employees Restaurant employees Cook/Chef 40% at the VET school 60% at the company How much does the education last? 3 years (4 months in the vocational school, 6 months in a 4 or 5 star hotel during high season) 21 hotel groups, 55 hotels. How many students have enrolled the program? 154 students, 67 finished the program on September 2016 and 87 students will finish on September 2017 7 classes Where in Greece does the program operate? The vocational schools are in Athens and Herakleion, Crete. The apprenticeship companies are in Athens, Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Peloponnese, Mykonos and other high season tourism destinations Which are the advantages of the project? Two separate diplomas which are recognised in Greece and Germany The wages are being paid from the apprenticeship company Vocational schools in high-standard criteria Which are the next steps?
