If children are unfamiliar with the word cape, explain that it is a type of coat with no sleeves that is fastened at the neck. Ask children where they have seen capes. If a child is having trouble pronouncing a particular sound, watch the child s mouth to be sure his or her lips and tongue are positioned correctly. Tell children that some words have more than one meaning. Explain that a watch is a small clock you wear on your wrist. The word watch can also be an action word.
