Welcome to Paris Langues aim is to offer quality teaching of French as a foreign language, combining language classes and linguistic and cultural workshops, to share knowledge of the French language and its culture and to help its development in the world. Paris Langues was created in 1992, by the CEI (Centre d Echanges Internationaux), founded in 1947 whose aim is to promote international exchanges between young French people and foreign nationals. In France, the CEI offers language study holidays for young foreign nationals, educational trips and holidays for school groups, immersion in French schools and summer jobs for university students. FIAP Jean Monnet Students on the terrace of FIAP Jean Monnet Location of Paris Langues The school is situated in the centre of Paris, in the 14th arrondissement, close to the famous Montsouris park and the lively Montparnasse and Butte aux Cailles neighbourhoods. The school is easily accessible by Métro and bus. The classrooms are in the FIAP Jean Monnet premises, an international 200 room residence in a lively area close to a Métro station. The students have access to the benefits of the area: top quality accommodation (double rooms with shower and toilet), a restaurant, cafeteria, bar, terrace, internet café, disco, and numerous cultural activities (photo exhibitions, concerts etc). Paris Langues received the Qualité Français Langue Etrangère label, which was set up by the Ministries of Higher Education and Research, Foreign and European Affairs and Culture and Communication, which is aimed at identifying and recognizing teaching settings whose linguistic offering and services provide an expected, guaranteed quality. The four keys of the Paris Langues Passport to Success We will work with you around a quality benchmark, guaranteeing: 1. Options for each student profile All the Paris Langues classes are in accordance with the levels defined by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Our method is based on written and oral comprehension, with teachers listening to each student. The lessons are adapted to the profile of each student (nationality, culture ). 2. Teaching based on interaction and creativity Our teaching material is: > designed for the practice of a modern and current language, a long way away from simple theoretical text books, > enriched with numerous authentic documents from everyday life: songs, newspaper and magazine articles, videos, games 3. Teaching approaches based on communication The Paris Langues teachers: > organize lessons which allow each student to feel at ease, > ensure that everyone gets to speak, > systematically correct pronunciation during lessons. The students thus learn how to communicate and lead a fluent conversation. 4. Exposure to contemporary French culture Exhibitions, theatre, cinema, museums, concerts. Thanks to the Wednesday afternoon outings as well as access to the cultural offerings of the FIAP centre, the students will discover and live current French culture and will consolidate their skills. FIAP Jean Monnet s reception Practical information Courses start each Monday except for students at a complete beginner level who must start their course on specific dates (see sessions calendar). An assessment takes place on Monday mornings in order to place each student in the right group according to level. The Paris Langues welcome pack The Eiffel tower The first day at school, Paris Langues gives to each student a folder, containing: > information on the chosen course (dates, timetable), > the program of cultural activities offered, a Paris information pack: Metro map, useful addresses and telephone numbers (dentists, police stations etc.), > an end of course evaluation form.
