KOTA * Mobile 0824611274 * Email: luthok@gmail.com *Room 11 23/02/2012 TO : THE PRINCIPALS & FET EDUCATORS FROM : CES CURRICULUM SBA CO-ORDINATOR SUBJECT: GRADE 12 SBA MODERATION PROGRAMME -2012 DATE : 23 FEBRUARY 2012 School Based Assessment (SBA) is an assessment model designed to assist teachers and learners to assess individual progress and monitor the remediation of areas in which learners need assistance throughout the year. SBA is compulsory in all subjects in the FET Band i.e. Grade 10, 11 &12. Each Subject s Assessment Guideline or SBA (CASS) policy document outlines the number of tasks required per term per year. Schools are reminded that assessment plans for subject teachers in all subjects are to feed to the school s annual assessment plans. These plans then feed to the school moderation plan administered by SMTs (HODs, Deputy Principals and Principal) in preparation for SBA moderation in clusters/district moderation sessions then to Provincial moderation session. SBA Co-ordinators, SMTs and Principals are to see to it that the 1 st Level of moderation i.e. School Based Moderation is done before teachers go to the cluster/district moderation sessions. Do refer to Assessment Instruction no. 03 of 2011, pertaining to processes to follow when administering SBA. During on site visits and any arranged meetings by Subject Advisors moderation of Grade 10 & 11 tasks will be done. We would like to thank all schools that carried out SBA in 2011 with minimal mistakes and consistent attendance to ALL sessions. We hope to work well with you again in 2012. An Assessment Instruction is on the way from Provincial office which will guide the SBA processes for 2012. The Province has proposed the District moderation immediately after our own cluster/district moderation session in Term 2 & 3. The other leg of moderation will be the Provincial moderation which will be immediately after District moderation in Term 2, 3 & 4. For these other two legs of moderation the Province will sample districts and subjects to be moderated. NB. Attached to this correspondence is the cluster/district moderation programme for Grade 12.
