Applicants will be issued the highest level of license they qualify for based on review by staff of the documentation provided. Accomplished Professional Conditional An advanced level license for an individual who has completed an advanced performance assessment 1. National Board Certification 2. Valid professional teaching license A 2 nd level license that is maintained through professional development 1. Bachelor s degree from a regionally accredited college or university 2. Completion of a state-approved preparation program in the subject or field in which certification/licensure is sought 3. Recency: defined as at least one year of accredited teaching experience 8 semester hours of college credit, within the six year period immediately prior to application 4. Out-of-state professional license AND 5. 3 years of recent accredited experience under a professional license Completion of assessments in content and pedagogy, and a performance assessment A license for an individual to begin practice while preparing for the professional license 1. Document 1-4 listed under professional AND 2. Must have content and pedagogy tests May be issued an exchange license if applicable May be issued a one-year nonrenewable license if hired by a Kansas district A substitute license until content and pedagogy tests are completed. Fingerprint background check clearance is required for all applicants Form 2 Initial Out-of-State 1

Application Steps: All Applicants Must Follow These Steps F O R M 2 Step 1: Complete the Application Form 2, sections I through V Step 2: Attach a complete set of official transcripts:! In sealed envelopes from all institutions where a degree was earned AND all institutions where related educational coursework was completed. Step 3: Obtain Verification of Completion of Approved Preparation Programs Send the verification Form 2a to the licensure officer at the institution where your preparation program(s) for teaching, and/or leadership or school specialist were completed. If programs were completed at more than one institution, a form will need to be completed by EACH institution where a program was completed. You may photocopy the form. The licensure officer should return the completed form to you in a sealed envelope. Step 4: Attach a copy of a valid out-of-state license Step 5: Verify your accredited experience during the last six years include copies of licenses valid during the experience that is verified Step 6: Attach the original official score report(s) of assessments if applicable refer to assessment sheet to determine which score reports are applicable. Photocopies of score reports are not acceptable. Step 7: Include $39.00 fee (check or money order) and mail all documents together in a single packet. Do not combine this fee with the background fee if you are submitting fingerprints. Step 8: Obtain fingerprints from a qualified law enforcement agency submit the card and fingerprint background check fee of $44 as directed in the fingerprint card instructions. (DO NOT BEND CARD) PLEASE NOTE! An incomplete packet will be returned unprocessed.! The application and background check fees are nonrefundable, and do not guarantee a license will be issued.! Accredited experience is defined as half-time or more under contract in an accredited school system while holding a certificate or license valid for the specific assignment.! To add an endorsement: The licensure officer or dean of education of the institution where you completed the approved endorsement program must fully complete Form 2a. Official transcripts from your out-of-state institution must also be included showing the coursework in the added endorsement area. Graduates of Kansas programs should contact the Kansas institution for the appropriate form. The appropriate Praxis II content assessment in the added endorsement area is required. Licensure assessments are administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) REGISTER for the test(s) online at www.ets.org/praxis 1. To review the list of tests and specific Kansas requirements, click on State Requirements at the top of the page directly under the large ETS logo heading. Choose Kansas from the list of states. Determine the appropriate tests for your license. A list of tests is also printed on the back of this page. 2. Currently valid professional teaching license (if applying for counselor, library media, reading specialist) 6.
