After the presentations, a business meeting will be held at the Alamo Café on 281. One item on the agenda for the February business meeting is the approval of the nominating committee s slate of officers for the 2016-2018 biennium. The March meeting is Beta Tau s Pioneer Teacher and Master Teacher awards program. Nomination forms will be available at the February business meeting and a nomination form is on page 6. The Delta Kappa Gamma President s Chapter Biennial Report was due on February 1 st. We met the deadline, which counts for P.A.C.E. points and I would like to thank the Texas State Organization for simplifying the reporting process this year. If you are the chair for the communications committee, programs committee, membership committee and various other committees, you did not have to file an individual report this year. The report gathered pertinent information without being overwhelming. The only other report Beta Tau was required to submit by February 1 st was necrology. Upcoming deadlines are the Annie Award application due on April 1 st and the P.A.C.E. Award application due on May 1 st, 2016. Hope to see you on Saturday, February 13 th, at the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas headquarters. Happy Valentine s Day!! Page 7 What Makes Nancy Wallace Smile? Receiving a $600 donation from Beta Tau. From the fall of 2014 through the spring of 2015 Beta Tau members culled through their jewelry boxes looking for gently used costume jewelry, they no longer needed. The jewelry was collect at Beta Tau s monthly meetings. In June, at the TSO Convention in San Antonio the Beta Tau Shines! jewelry booth was open for business. Beta Tau voted at its September meeting to donate all the proceeds, $600, to the Texas Women s Storybook Project. Nancy was presented the check at the 80 th birthday celebration on January 16 th. Over the years Beta Tau has donated a total of $3100 to this project. Members Are The Heart Blanche Delgado, area 6 coordinator, handed everyone at the 80 th birthday party a sachet containing a red rose, a heart, and mustard seeds at the bottom. Tied to the sachet was the verse Matthew 17:20. The red rose represents DKG. The heart represents the theme of our TSO State President. The Heart of the Society is its Members Mustard seeds represent our members. They have faith and when it comes to a challenge nothing is impossible.
