University of Zaragoza (Spain) Courses in spanish as a foreign language 2013-2014 Courses in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Zaragoza are run throughout the year in Zaragoza while in the summer they are transferred to the tourist resort of Jaca (Huesca) in the Pyrenees. The University of Zaragoza has been a pioneer in teaching Spanish to foreign students since 1927. It has agreements with a number of public and private institutions around the world, working directly with various official bodies to promote the Spanish language (the Cervantes Institute, the Education Office of a number of Spanish embassies, the Aragon Regional Government, the Ministry of Education and Science) and it is the Official Examination Centre for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE, with exams in May and November). The University of Zaragoza is recognised worldwide, as is demonstrated by the high number of foreign students attending the various co-operation programmes in which it participates (Socrates-Erasmus, Tempus).

Courses in spanish as a foreign language in Zaragoza The city of Zaragoza, with a population over 700,000, is the capital of the Aragon region. It offers visitors more than two thousand years of history with traces of its Iberian, Roman, Arabic, Jewish and Christian legacy. Its prime geographical location between Madrid and Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia has made it a meeting place for numerous activities of all types: national and international conferences and exhibitions, sports events, scientific and artistic meetings, festivals, trade fairs and concerts among many others. Zaragoza's range of services makes it a very attractive city for visitors, who can enjoy a wide variety of businesses, shops, restaurants and leisure activities. Courses in spanish language and cultura for foreign students Before the start of each course, students take a level test (from beginner to advanced level). The number of places is limited. Interested students must NOT make any payments before receiving confirmation of their acceptance on the course. The language elements used is as follows: - Grammar. - Conversation practice. - Use of language. - Tutorials. These classes are complemented by lectures on Spanish culture and guided tours to the various monuments in the city. The enrolment fee includes teaching, material used in class and the attendance certificate. Specific spanish courses SPANISH FOR TOURISM (Zaragoza, 6-17 May 2013) 30 class hours Enrolment fee for the course: 180 The goal of the course is to prepare future professionals, qualifying them to face the typical situations found in the world of tourism. BUSINESS SPANISH (Zaragoza, 4-15 November 2013) 30 class hours Enrolment fee for the course: 180 The aim of the course is to provide professionals from the commercial and business environment with a detailed knowledge of Spanish which will allow them to work easily in their field of professional interest.

Initial training course for teachers of Spain as a foreign language (14ª th ªºª edition) (Zaragoza, 8 February - 22 March 2013) The course is organised jointly by the Cervantes Institute and the Courses in Spanish as a Foreign Language of the University of Zaragoza 50 class hours Enrolment fee for the course: 385 This course includes classes in problem areas in Spanish grammar, and in the methodology of teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). The course will take place at weekends (Friday afternoons from 4.30 pm to 9 pm and Saturday mornings from 9 am to 1.30 pm). Aimed at: Spanish and foreign teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, Philology graduates (preferably in Spanish) or final year Philology students (preferably in Spanish) who wish to focus their training on teaching Spanish to foreign students. Given the initial training nature of this course, it is not recommended that people who have attended other similar courses should enrol on the course.

Students who consistently attend and make full use of the classes will be awarded an approved diploma which can be validated by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Government of Aragon, carrying 5 credits for Permanent Teacher Training qualifications, provided that the students fulfil the requirements established by the competent official bodies. The course may be validated as 5 free-choice credits by the University of Zaragoza and by the G9 Group of Universities under the terms and conditions set out by these institutions. Attendance is compulsory and absences, regardless of the reason, may not exceed 15% of the total duration of the course (7'5 hours). The number of places is limited. ACCOMMODATION IN JACA The University of Zaragoza has a University Hall of Residence in Jaca with dining room, garden, swimming pool, library and other facilities. Points of interest for foreign students Medical assistance. Students should bring the Health Service foreign travel documents from their country of origin. European nationals should have their European Health Insurance Card. Accommodation. Either in University Halls of Residence or private houses. Students interested will be provided with the addresses. The refectories of the different campus faculties have self-service menus for about 6. Student services. Students enrolled in one-year, three-month and four-month courses may enjoy all the services offered by the University of Zaragoza to its students upon presenting proper accreditation (e-mail, libraries, sports, cultural activities). Diplomas. On completion of each course, any students wishing to do so, may take the relevant tests to obtain the Diploma of Competence in Spanish issued by the University of Zaragoza (examination fees for all levels: 18). Other courses. As well as the ones stated above, special courses are organised to meet specific needs (coaching for DELE exams, courses outside normal timetables, etc.). The minimum number of students for these courses is eight, and enrolment fees will depend on the number of class hours requested.
