From those looking to pursue creative writing, Cambridge is a truly inspirational place to write - at least, famous authors (from Sylvia Plath to John Milton, and Virginia Woolf to Lord Byron) thought so. Expert instruction offered alongside the unique environment of Cambridge provides the opportunity for students to dramatically improve their writing. For those with an interest in Film and Literature, Cambridge has a rich history, having produced some of the finest actors (Sir Ian McKellen - The Lord of the Rings, King Lear), actresses (Emma Thompson - The Remains of the Day, An Education), directors (Paul Greengrass - The Bourne Ultimatum) and authors (Sebastian Faulks, Nick Hornby, Zadie Smith) in the world. Why not visit the theatre where Hugh Laurie (House) and Stephen Fry (Wilde) began their careers? Or, take a walk along the river in the footsteps of philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein? courses available English 148: British Film as Literature: Classic examples of English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish film are analysed, including Trainspotting, The Third Man, The Commitments, and The Remains of the Day. Students are provided with their individual dorm rooms for five weeks. Half board meals are provided in the price of the program, Monday to Thursday.
