(d) Remittance of Fees in the form of Demand Draft First Round seat selection is for Medical and Dental followed by Architecture and Engineering disciplines. Having selected a seat in Medical or Dental course, a candidate may change his mind and opt for Architecture or Engineering seat. This leads to a Medical or Dental seat falling vacant. In order to take care of such changes, flexibility has been built into the system by dividing the entire process into a First Round followed by a Second and Final Round. In both rounds, the candidates will be allowed to exercise option and to select a seat of their choice strictly in the order of merit. A day is divided into six sessions and the first session begins at 8.00 am daily. The candidate will be allowed to participate in accordance with the notified time schedule and as per the stipulated rank ranges only. The candidates are required to get the documents verified and later to register themselves in the counter where it gets entered into the computer system. After verification only the set of photocopies of certificates will be retained and the original documents will be returned to the candidates for submitting the same to the concerned colleges later at the time of Admission. Besides, documents like Eligibility Certificate, Migration Certificate, as applicable will have to be submitted directly to the college at the time of admission. Biometric verification, photo verification and signature verification will be made and therefore the candidate is required to be present compulsorily for seat selection process. Candidate may be accompanied by only one person (parent or guardian) for the seat selection. The entire seat selection process is controlled by a computer system right from the stage of registration till the stage of printing of Allotment letter. The highly sophisticated software used in the system has the ability to control the initial registration, provide data for verification of the original documents and to take care of the selection of the seats by the candidates in the order of merit, payment of fees and finally printing of Allotment letter. As already said, once the candidate comes to the seat selection by registering and verifying the documents, the computer will not allow to jump the order of merit. A candidate who has the better rank gets the opportunity to select a seat, a candidate who has the rank next to him cannot think of bypassing him.the candidates has to wait for his turn at the seat selection terminal. A giant dynamic screen will show course-wise and college-wise availability of seats, which helps the candidates to make up their mind in advance. The moment the option is exercised, the computer will show one seat less against the course and college from which the candidate has selected the seat. The candidate will be given an offer letter for the particular College / Course along with the amount to be paid by the candidate. The candidate then will have to go to the Bank Counter and deposit the same. After this the candidate will be given an Allotment letter as well as the Tuition fee paid receipt which he has to submit at the college. 09/03/2007 Page - 17 - Version 1.00

No candidate will be allowed to change the seat once selected during this round. Candidates are cautioned here that they have to be very careful during this process as the computerized system cannot be reversed especially if the rank below him has already exercised his choice of seat selection. Second and Final Round of seat selection will be held after the completion of the first round seat selection. All the unfilled, surrendered, forfeited, cancelled and newly added seats, if any, will be offered in second round. All candidates who have selected a seat and obtained Allotment letters in respect of the seat selected in the first round whether reported to the college or not, will be eligible to participate in the second round along with candidates who have not selected any seat in the first round. First the minority candidates will be called if there are still minority quota seats left. This is followed by General Merit candidates as per schedule. Any seat falling vacant due to surrender or change over during the second round will later be filled by the concerned colleges directly. 7.6 Grounds of Reject: i) If on verification the documents or not found to be in order or on falsification of documents or the expert committee is not convinced about the documents submitted at the verification counter such of the candidate will be rejected. ii) If there is a mismatch of Photo, Finger Impression and signature of the candidate or if there is a reasonable doubt by the expert committee that there is malified intent of the candidate to impersonation such of the candidate will be debarred and criminal proceedings will be initiated. iii) If the candidate does not get the prescribed amount in form of Demand Draft they are liable to be rejected. iv) candidate must be physically present and no proxy registration will be accepted. 7.7 Latecomer Policy: Candidate who fails to report in time at the venue as per the date and time of the schedule will be considered as a latecomer, who will be required to join only the next session and is eligible to be counseled as the first candidate of that session and will be entitled for seats available at that point of counseling. No late comers are entitled at the 2 nd round of counseling. 7.8 Refund and Forfeiture of Fee a) Seat surrender should be by the candidate only. b) In the case of a candidate who cancels or surrenders the seat selected in the First Round, one day before commencement of the Second and Final Round, the candidate shall forfeit 10% of the fee paid and will receive the refund of the remaining 90% by a post dated cheque in the name of the candidate. c) In the case of a candidate who cancels or surrenders the seat after Second and Final Round, the candidate shall forfeit 100% of the fee paid. d) The fee paid in the Second and Final Round, will not be refunded, in case of cancellation or surrender of the same by the candidate. e) A candidate, who selects a seat in Second and Final Round and does not join the college concerned, shall not be entitled for refund of fees, which shall be forfeited. f) In the case of a candidate who claims the refund with regard to the excess fee remitted by him should claim such an amount on or before the last date of the counseling, failing which no refund will be made. 09/03/2007 Page - 18 - Version 1.00

8. Legal Jurisdiction: Any dispute that may arise in respect of the seat selection process and admission is subject to the jurisdiction of the Hon ble High Court of Karnataka. The issue of Allotment letter by the COMEDK is provisional which is to enable the candidate to join the concerned college, subject to his meeting on the eligibility requirement as prescribed by MCI / DCI / AICTE as the concerned university in Karnataka. Hence at the college level all the original documents are once again verified before acceptance. 9. Biometric Verification Candidates intending to take the Under Graduate Entrance Test 2007 may be required to undergo biometric verification. (i) before entering the test centre, (ii) during centralised counseling for seat selection and (iii) at the college level, prior to the admission process. To ensure fairness to the merited students and to eliminate fraudulent attempts, it is planned to use Biometric at various stages of the process and this would be done at the discretion of COMEDK. COMEDK reserves the right to change (or) reset the Biometric Verification parameters at any time during the selection process. Any mismatch at any stage will automatically result in disqualification of the candidate and he/she will not be permitted to participate in any further process of seat selection and admission to UG course. Further, impostors are liable for criminal prosecution. 10.
