A Guide for Potential Sponsors In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED like experience. A TEDx event hosts a suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder and to provoke conversations that matter. TEDxCMU maintains the spirit of TED itself: multidisciplinary, focused on the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. What is TED? TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. In 1984, it started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then, TED has become a global phenomenon of sharing ideas in several forms. Specifically, TED hosts two annual conferences, an award-winning video website, the Open Translation Project, TED Conversations, TED Fellows and its TEDx Program.

What is TEDx? TEDx was created in the spirit of TED s mission, ideas worth spreading. The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. The individuals involved with TEDxCMU have a passion for turning challenges into opportunity with the hope of inspiring the next generation. We believe in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.

The TEDx Revolution TEDx is part of a revolution in global education made possible by local organizers wanting to engage with their communities.
