Maynooth, the perfect location Maynooth University Maynooth University is a place of lively contrasts. Our campus combines the peaceful and historic beauty of fine eighteenth century buildings with the very best of modern research and teaching facilities. Maynooth University's roots extend back to 1795 when it was originally established as St. Patrick's College Maynooth, Ireland's National Seminary & Pontifical University; but today Maynooth University is at the cutting edge of scientific research and continue to forge links with the many high-tech industries located nearby. Our spacious campus, laid out over extensive grounds, retains an intimate, friendly atmosphere, thanks in large part to the 150-plus student clubs and societies, and a vibrant social scene that extends to and encompasses the town. As Ireland's only university town, the University is closely integrated with the historic and lively Kildare town of Maynooth, which is a charming, safe and vibrant place with an abundance of facilities and is well serviced by bus and rail routes for direct, frequent and easy access to Dublin city. I knew from the moment I stepped foot on campus that I made the right choice in coming to Maynooth University. The friendly people and quaint college town make Maynooth the perfect choice when studying abroad. There is always something exciting happening on campus and Dublin is just a short bus ride away if you re looking for something different. I can t imagine being happier with any other university. Maynooth University has been confirmed as one of the world s best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review, for the fifth year running. Maynooth University was the first higher education institution located outside of North America to be included in its internationally recognized and popular annual best colleges guidebook. I was able to take every course that I wanted to while I was there on my Study Abroad semester, which varied from biology and chemistry courses to Irish history courses. I was also able to take a course that counted as a General Education course. I really enjoyed the environment that I was in while I attended Maynooth University. We were placed in dorms on-campus, where we lived with other Irish students. I believe that Maynooth University was the best choice that I could have made when deciding on a university to attend in Ireland. Erica Thielen, USA 11
