Special Grants and IT Donations Report (2016) The EIB Institute aims at promoting local philanthropy by channelling support through donations of IT equipment that is no longer used by the EIB Group, to non-profit organisations, local community centres or schools, registered in an EU Member State. 1 - Beneficiaries of special grants in 2016 Haiti Hurricane Matthew Médecins du Monde (i) Distribution of medical material/equipment and other hygiene kits; (ii) Rehabilitation of health infrastructure; (iii) Psychological and medical support to the victims. (iv) Support to local authorities in the monitoring of epidemics. SOS Villages d Enfants Monde (i) Vaccination campaign against cholera for around 10 000 people; (ii) Distribution of drinking water, food and hygiene kits; (iii) Offer of child friendly spaces that offer education, emotional support, basic medical care, and other services. (iv) Rehabilitation of basic infrastructure: - 4 family houses and 1 school in the SOS Children s Village of Les Cayes. - 3 Community Centres at Bord-de-Mer, Bourjolly and Ti Kok. - 4 public schools at Sudre, Leger, Guilgaud et Tellier. CARE - (i) Distribution of hot meals in shelters; (ii) Distribution of bottled water, water purification tablets and hygiene kits; (iii) Distribution of essential items such as plastic tarps, blankets and mattresses; (iv) Distribution of shelter kits. (v) Education for students affected by the hurricane. This will include temporary learning centres, child-friendly spaces, psychosocial support, Water and Sanitation in schools and repairs. Handicap International (i) Distribution of kits of household essential items including shelter solutions to affected families; (ii) Provision of access to water and information to most-atrisk population; (iii) Physical and functional rehabilitation assistance (including donation devices at both hospital level but also community level); (iv) Psychological first aid and Mental Health support. Croix-Rouge () Emergency aid to the families focusing on health, first aid care, water and sanitation, promotion of hygiene and provision emergency shelter kits. Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Germany WHH has been working in Haiti since many years, among others, in providing drinking water. ECUADOR EARTHQUAKE Médecins du Monde Financing of the deployment of teams specifically for the psychosocial support of displaced persons affected by the earthquake. SOS Villages d Enfants Monde CARE - Croix-Rouge eoise Emergency response, including notably: (i) providing food, water and shelter to affected families in the communities where SOS Children s Villages works; (ii) operating child friendly spaces that offer education, emotional support, basic medical care, and other services to help those in need. Water and Sanitation activities, notably (i) preventing spread of diseases campaigns by informing the population about how to comply with basic rules of hygiene. (ii) Supporting hygiene through distribution of hygiene kits. (iii) Improving the quality of water through the distribution of water purification tablets and explanation on how they should be used. Financing of emergency shelter kits, as well as tarpaulins for the families affected by the earthquake, together with the respective logistics and distribution costs. 2 - Beneficiaries of decommissioned IT equipment in 2016 In total, 215 desktop PCs and 288 laptops, corresponding to a total of 56 requests, were donated in 2016, to beneficiaries located in France and (27% each), Bulgaria (19%), Belgium (7%) Croatia and Greece (3% each), Germany, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Senegal, Slovakia and Turkey (2% each).
