It was great to see those parents who were able to attend the events joining in the fun with their children. Thanks must go to all of the staff who made both events possible. The carnival was hugely successful with all children trying their best and I know that those children who will represent Liverpool PS at the District carnival will do so with pride. Wednesday s open classrooms, picnic lunch and heroes parade was also great fun. As I said on the day, we have celebrated the exploits of ordinary men, women and children doing extraordinary things during our ANZAC commemorations earlier this year: on Wednesday we celebrated those heroes we find in our books, the books that light up our world. Well done to all those who participated so enthusiastically. Thank you to everyone for your patience throughout the upgrade of Crawford Laneway, I m sure that you will all agree that the Council has done a great job and it is now much safer for pedestrians. Please note that the parking has changed and it is now parallel parking. You will need to factor this in if driving your children to and from school and allow extra time. Parents please remember that you are not permitted to approach another child in order to solve your children s problems. I have received reports of parents speaking in an angry and threatening manner to other children. If this continues, then access to the school may be restricted. If there are any concerns then you need to speak to the teachers. I would also like to remind all students that full school uniform is required to be worn to school every day. This includes black school shoes, school cap, no jewellery unless of religious significance. School jackets, jumpers and all requirements can be bought at the uniform shop near Liverpool Library. If you are not wearing correct uniform then you will not be able to attend excursions, represent the school in any area or collect awards on assembly. Parents if you need assistance to purchase uniforms then please call in at the office. The school has a small amount of money that can be used for this purpose. Yours sincerely Susan Walkerden Principal M E D I A S P L A S H 1

SPORTS REPORT On Tuesday 28 th July, years 3-6 students, along with their teachers, participated in the annual Liverpool Public School Athletics Carnival. After catching a bus to the venue, students were excited to participate in many of the sporting events. The students were able to compete in short and long distance running, long jump, shot-put and many other sports. With perfect weather conditions all day, everyone was eager to participate in all the activities and all tried their best. Students displayed exemplary team support by cheering on their team mates throughout the day. Congratulations to all of those students who performed exceptionally well in their age sports events on the day. Mrs. Markovski Sports Organiser PARENT ONLINE PAYMENTS It is now possible for parents and caregivers to make online payments to the school for amounts owed by students for items such as excursions, sport, sales to students and school contributions. Payments are made via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. They can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard or debit card. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (SRC) KARAOKE COMPETITION MUFTI DAY On Thursday 25 th June, the SRC hosted a Karaoke Competition Mufti Day to raise money for World Vision Nepal Appeal. We were hoping to raise $1000 to go towards vital resources needed by the people of Nepal to rebuild their lives after the devastating earthquakes that stuck their country. We exceeded our expectations and raised a total of $1058.00! Thank you to everyone who donated to this organisation. During the middle session of this day, Stage 2 and 3 participated in an exciting Karaoke competition. Each class had a representative for their class who competed in the competition. The number of talented singers was astonishing! Teachers and students were shocked at the hidden talents some of our students possessed! Mrs Barnes, Kristina and Lina had a very hard job at choosing only one winner. Closely winning second place was Asma B and Heather B singing Happy by Pharrell Williams. But as they say, there could only be one winner! Our L.P.S Karaoke champion winner for 2015 is Janait A, singing Blank Space by Taylor Swift. Congratulations to Janait. She was awarded a certificate and a $20.00 Smiggles voucher. We congratulate all the singers who participated in the competition! TREE PLANTING DAY On Friday 24 th July, Liverpool Public School took part in National Tree Planting Day. L.P.S was lucky enough to receive 50 beautiful native plants from Liverpool City Council. Some of them included: Crimson Bottlebrush, Mauve Flax Lily and Paper Daisies. Lina (6G), Aaron (6G), Melak (5I), Christine (4G) and Ameen (4V) were chosen to plant these native plants with the help of Mr Foster and Mrs McDonald at the back of our school. We look forward to watching these plants blossom and grow. Thank you Mr Foster and Mrs McDonald for your help in planting these plants. 5
