Course Descriptio Dermatology is a rapidly chagig specialty, with ovel advaces i medical, surgical, ad procedural/ cosmetic dermatology made yearly. I additio, it is a specialty that frequetly uses treatmets off-label for diseases that have o approved drug. Thus, it is a field that is fertile groud for ew drug developmet, as well as discoverig ew ways of usig older approved drugs. This two-day program will provide practitioers who care for people with ski disease, icludig dermatologists, dermatologic surgeos, ad residets i dermatology, with a therapeutic update based o the real-life experieces of the faculty. It will address the best approaches to better health-related outcomes for both wellrecogized ad ewly described disease states/ dermatologic coditios. Statemet of Need Newer itervetios have bee itroduced that promise, ad ofte deliver, better outcomes with fewer adverse side effects. However, because of the emergece of sub-specializatio i dermatology, data o ew itervetios are ot ecessarily commuicated uiformly, ad thus ot icorporated i a timely fashio to commuity dermatologists. Advaces i laser techologies ad light sources, as well as filler substaces, icludig ew biostimulatory treatmets, have served to improve the practice of cosmetic dermatology. These advaces frequetly offer improved outcomes for patiets who elect to visit a dermatologic practitioer who specializes i cosmetic dermatology, but agai, cliicias eed to be aware of the data available o outcomes i order to icorporate these optios ito practice ad cousel patiets about the beefits ad risks of treatmet optios. The treatmet of ski cacer is always beig updated, with ewer recommedatios derivig from epidemiologic, histopathologic, ad cliical research. I omelaoma cacers, ew itervetios ca decrease the risk of developig ew ski cacers. Sigificatly, sice the last program, the FDA has approved two ew therapies for metastatic melaoma. Through these approaches, as well as the efficiet extirpatio of existig ski cacers before they cause local destructio or spread, patiet morbidity ad mortality ca be decreased. Educatioal Objectives Discuss treatmet optios, icludig off-label usage of available drugs for dermatologic diseases ad strategies for icorporatig their use i practice. Critically evaluate efficacy ad safety profiles for systemic/biologic medicatios ad modalities for treatig debilitatig ski diseases such as psoriasis, pyoderma gagreosum, hidradeitis suppurativa, severe ace vulgaris, ad atopic dermatitis, as ewer small molecule ad biologic medicatios for ski disease are itroduced. Utilize a tailored approach for selectig therapies for patiets by assessig a umber of factors, icludig age, geder ad psychological profile, to esure miimal risk. Demostrate cofidece i addressig complicated medical ad surgical dermatologic problems, based o a icreased awareess of available data relevat to both older ad ovel therapeutic modalities. Update ski cacer approaches based o ew recommedatios for the prevetio of ew cacers through prophylactic approaches ad the efficiet extirpatio of existig ski cacers before either local destructio or metastatic spread affects patiet morbidity ad mortality. Take ito accout available data o outcomes, evaluate ew techologies i laser ad light sources as well as fillers ad ijectables i cosmetic dermatology.
