Dear School Counselor, I think my child is being bullied, how do I know? 3rd Grade to Sing at American Legion Hall Third graders at UGES are continuing a long tradition this year by singing at the American Legion Hall. This year's performance will be held on Thursday, November 9th at 12:45 PM. Parents who would like to meet us at the American Legion Hall are welcome to hear the concert. Plan to stand, as there is very little room for seating. This is a very special concert, and we look forward to presenting our music to an appreciative audience. The Giving Tree The Giving Tree is located in the main office entryway and will be up until all ornaments are selected. This is the 15th year of helping children at our school to have their Christmas gift wishes fulfilled. Each ornament lists a gift that a child would like to receive. Please stop by to select an ornament. Gifts need to be returned by December 8th. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Free Community Meal Tuesday, November 28 5:30-6:30 PM UG Congregational Church of Christ Ask yourself child these questions: Is it a RIP? Repeated did it happen more than twice? Intentional - was it done on purpose? Power - is there an imbalance of power? Did you do it back? If they can answer yes to these questions, then it might be bullying. If it is not bullying what could it be? Rude Behaviors-saying or doing something that hurts someone without mean intentions. Examples: Cutting in line, bragging, not saying hi, not holding the door. Mean Behaviors-saying or doing something to hurt someone on purpose 1-2 times. Examples: Calling names, throwing something at some one, making fun of someone, yelling at someone, exclude ing someone. Conflict Behaviors- a problem between two or more people, it is two-sided. Examples: two people dislike one another, you and a friend want to play different games, you call each other names. If any of the above behaviors are making your child feel uncomfortable or unsafe at school, please encourage them to reach out to a trusted staff member for support. Bullying Behaviors are A pattern of repeated behavior that is intended to harm someone physically, emotionally, and/or socially and involves imbalanced power. Bullying behavior can be physical, verbal, relational or cyber. If you feel your child is in a true bullying situation report what is happening to a staff member.
