A sample frmat fr the assignment is available in the Curse Mdules - check Assessments & Evaluatin. Multiple r late submissin will nt be accepted. Dn't miss any wrk because each missing wrk will receive 5 pint deductin in participatin scre.

Cllege students are expected t write with prper grammar, spelling, punctuatin, clarity, and rganizatin. Failing t d s will result in additinal pints being deducted frm yur curse wrk. Read the syllabus carefully t becme knwledgeable f curse requirements, t find ut hw t cmplete and submit yur assignments, and t determine hw written replies r answers shuld be cmpsed and frmatted. Everything yu write (assignments, discussins, e-mails) will be graded n hw well yu write and hw well yu present the infrmatin. Make sure yur cmputer time is synchrnized with the university s time. The university's cmputer time is the nly crrect time as far as this prgram is cncerned. DO NOT wait until 11:59 PM t attempt a submissin. Always make sure yur assignment is delivered successfully. It is the student's respnsibility t learn the basic structure and mechanics fr accessing the curses materials, cmmunicating with the instructr and ther members f the curse, and cmpleting assignments. All assignments MUST be sent thrugh the DROPBOX. They will nt be accepted thrugh persnal e- mail. ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN.dc,.dcx, r htm cnfiguratin. Failure t fllw the instructins n hw t cmpse and submit assignments will result in a deductin f ne letter grade which is the equivalent f 10 pints. Incmplete and/r incrrect answers will result in additinal pints being deducted frm yur grade. Multiple submissins r late submissin f assignments will nt be accepted. Failure t submit an assignment will result in a -5 grade. Instructin t cmplete and submit assignment 1. Dwnlad an assignment file t yur cmputer. 2. Open the assignment file and change the file name - yur last name + assignment number (Jnes 001). 3. Write yur answer under each questin and save it by clicking n save icn. A graded assignment will be available by end f day Sunday. Ntify the instructr if yu dn't have a grade psted by the end f day Mnday. 9. Fllw the belw listed guidelines when frmatting yur paper and the answers t the questins: Include yur name, curse number, semester, and assignment number and title at the tp left crner. Example: Jhn De CJA-3020 Fall 2012 Assignment #7 (Plice Use f Frce) Include questins and pints fr each questin in yur assignment.

Duble space between the questin and the first line f the answer Duble between the end f the answer and the next questin. Answers are required t be written in essay frmat - use cmplete sentences. Answers shuld address parts f each questin. Mst 10 pints-questins require at least 7-10 sentences t answer adequately. Questins f a greater value will require mre extensive answers. Dn't write an answer in ne lng paragraph. Begin a new paragraph when the tpic f the answer changes. Single-space the text. Use 12 pints and serif typeface such as Curier r Times Rman. Leave 1" margins all arund. Left justificatin. Dn't cpy the textbk r lecture nte wrd by wrd. Yu need t answer questins in yur wn wrds t cnvince the instructr that yu fully understand the issues and statements f the tpic. Clarity f yur answer will be cunted in yur grade. Check the spelling and the grammar befre yu submit yur assignment. There will be a significant penalty fr nt fllwing these instructins. Quizzes: There is n mid-term r final exam. Thrughut the semester, there are 13 quizzes. Each quiz is available fr ne week (Thursdays 12:01am t Wednesday 11:59pm). Summer Semester: quizzes are available as nted in the curse calendar and Assessments tl. Each quiz has 25 questins - multiple chice and true/false. The quizzes are clsed-bk test and have a 30 minute time limit. Make sure yur cmputer time is synchrnized with the RODP cmputer. Students have nly ne access t each test and need t allcate enugh time t take a test withut interruptin. Students need t study bth textbk and lecture nte befre taking any test. Students are expected t take and cmplete each test by due date. Dn't miss any wrk because each missing wrk will receive 5 pint deductin in participatin scre. Check the results f a quiz by visiting the site the fllwing week. The scre will be psted n the fllwing Mnday r Tuesday. When an emergency (such as medical emergency) ccurs, please cntact the instructr as sn as pssible. Discussin If we were in the classrm, class participatin wuld be an integral part f the curse wrk and wuld cunt tward yur grade. Since we are nt in a classrm, we as a class will participate in discussins. Weekly tpics are listed fr discussin and everyne is expected t participate in the discussin sessins. I have fund that grades tend t g up depending upn the level f participatin during discussins. Participatin in discussins is a very easy way t imprve yur grade. Apprximately 13% f yur final grade is accrued thrugh the discussin sessins. Yu are (1) required t prvide yur persnal cmments/psitin/pinin n each subject as well (2) why yu agree r disagree with at least tw ther students' respnses. Dn't be the last ne every week t pst cmments. That wuld seem t imply yu are simply cpying all the ther students and it des nt allw ther students t cmment n yur pstings. All cmments are t have substance. Limiting yur pstings t "I agree r I disagree" will nt suffice. If anther student r the instructr asks yu a questin abut yur pstings, yu must answer the questin. Failure fail t answer the student/instructr will result in a deductin f pints. Discussins mean that we discuss!!! That means yu will

have t review all cmments. I am sure there will be differing pinins, but please be respectful with yur cmments. Yur weekly cmments regarding the tpic f discussin must be entered prir t Wednesday at 11:59 PM. Failure t fllw these guidelines will result in a lss f discussin (participatin) pints. Class Participatin: Since there is n n-campus meeting, yur class attendance and participatin will be graded by cnsistent class activities. Fr example, if a student misses an assignment, it is very lgical t infer that the student has nt studied the assigned chapter f the textbk. Each missing wrk will receive 5 pint deductin in participatin scre. Visit website f this curse every day t check any annuncement r email. Assessment and Grading Grading Prcedure: Yur grade will cnsist with assignments, quizzes, discussin, and class participatin. Each student will have an pprtunity t accumulate 3010 pints. The accumulated scres will be divided by 3010 and the crrespnding letter grade will be psted as yur final grade. 13 assignments: 100 pints each 13 quizzes: 100 pints each 13 discussin sessins: 30 pints each Grades Pint Value Ttal 13 Assignments 100 pints each 1300 pints 13 Quizzes 100 pints each 1300 pints 13 Discussin Bards 30 pints each 390 pints TOTAL POINTS: 2990 Grading Scale: A B C D F 2990-2691 pints 2690-2392 pints 2391-2093 pints 2092-1794 pints 1793-0 pints Punctuality: Always check the curse Calendar site fr any assignment/quiz due. Late submissin will nt be accepted. All assignments and quizzes have due dates s the sites will nt allw yu t have an access after due dates. Dn't depend n yur wn clck. There are n excuses fr late materials (assignments, quizzes, discussins) when we have digital drpbxes and a

week t cmplete curse wrk. Practively manage yur time. Back up all wrk n a flash drive, Clud r Ggle Dcs t prepare fr cmputer crashes, lst flash drives, etc. Digital deaths, accidental erasing, lss, sending assignments in an ancient prgram r frmat I cannt pen, etc. will nt garner an excuse fr a missed assignment. Guidelines fr Cmmunicatins Email: Include the curse title in the address line fr a mre timely respnse. Remember withut facial expressins sme cmments may be taken the wrng way. Be careful in wrding yur emails. Use f emticns might be helpful in sme cases. Use standard fnts. D nt send large attachments withut permissin. Special frmatting such as centering, audi messages, tables, html, etc. shuld be avided unless necessary t cmplete an assignment r ther cmmunicatin. Respect the privacy f ther class members Discussin Grups: Review the discussin threads thrughly befre entering the discussin. Be a lurker then a discussant. Try t maintain threads by using the "Reply" buttn rather starting a new tpic. D nt make insulting r inflammatry statements t ther members f the discussin grup. Be respectful f ther's ideas. Be patient and read the cmments f ther grup members thrughly befre entering yur remarks. Be cperative with grup leaders in cmpleting assigned tasks. Be psitive and cnstructive in grup discussins.
