A brief introduction to the company and our business. SSAT Middle East is an educational consultancy working with and for schools, school leaders and teachers across the Middle East and around the world with the aim to increase standards and achievement levels for students. Our clients are both the public and private sectors. Additionally, SSAT Middle East works with school owners and investors to help realize new schools capable of delivering the best possible learning experiences. Schools in the UK, across the Middle East and globally have testified that working with SSAT has led to improvements in teaching and learning. SSAT has provided networking opportunities with other schools and educators, enabling them to share ideas and learn best educational practices. SSAT Middle East currently works with over 50 public and 120 private schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi along with an increasing number of private international schools in Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia. SSAT supports schools in all aspects of pedagogy and school management and employs over 50 experienced educational consultants in the Gulf Region. About our CEO David Allison, CEO of SSAT Middle East, has made a specialty of opening new schools and has been involved in project managing new school builds with both primary and secondary phases. David works with the Public and Private sectors to secure appropriate licensing and other requirements necessary for schools to operate. David worked previously with the Academies program in London and opened one of the UK s first all-through Academies in 2006. This experience, combined with his work abroad, David is extremely well-placed to lead the establishment of new International schools. He is a former Principal of the very successful Jerudong International School in Brunei and a former Head of School at the British School of Muscat in Oman. David is Chair of the UKTI Education Sector Advisory Group, an associate member of the British Schools of the Middle East and former member of the Federation of British International Schools in South East Asia and Independent Association of Prep Schools (I.A.P.S.) Mr. David Allison CEO, SSAT Middle East 2 3

SSAT in the UK Established in 1987 in the UK, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) began as an independent organisation working to give practical support to the transformation of education by building and supporting a world-class network of innovative, high performing educational establishments in partnership with business and the wider community. SSAT UK continues to advance teaching and learning in order to improve the life chances of young people. SSAT UK works across the whole education system involving almost 6,000 affiliates worldwide including secondary and primary schools, local government bodies, further education colleges and higher education institutions. SSAT UK has a professional staff of over 220 full and part time employees. SSAT Middle East SSAT in the Middle East was established in 2008 and this year will generate revenue of approximately AED 30 million. SSAT Middle East boasts a permanent team of 50 professional and highly qualified consultants based in Abu Dhabi working on current projects. Many consultants have extensive international experience. The main focus of SSAT s operation in Abu Dhabi was initially to support the ADEC Public Private Partnership (PPP). The delivery of the ADEC Tamkeen and Reyada programmes has replaced this. These are designed to raise standards in education in both public and private schools in 170 kindergarten, primary, secondary and K-12 schools. Due largely to our achievements in delivering these ADEC contracts and our growing reputation for raising standards within the local culture and context, SSAT is also providing education services to public and private education organisations elsewhere within the Emirate and across the GCC region. For example, in Riyadh, in 2012/13, we had a team of 14 consultants working with teachers and leaders in a group of private schools to improve their standards and capacity. Importantly, a key element of the project was to enable inclusive education. SSAT ME has extensive international connections across the world through inet the International Network for Educational Transformation. We have experience in school recruitment with contracts for government and private schools in the UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabian schools. We deploy specialists to carefully select and prepare candidates for working overseas and enforce a systematic quality assurance process. SSAT ME is currently involved as international expert partner on an OFFSET project supported by the National Offset Committee of Kuwait. This project is to train trainers to support Vocational Education and work skills for young adults who have a range of Special Educational Needs. Experience and expertise SSAT perceives the objective of Educational Reform as being to support teachers and therefore young people to develop those skills, competencies and attributes which equip them to be innovative and to identify, create and successfully manage personal, community, business and work opportunities. We bring to any program the expertise of our experienced Abu Dhabi-based school improvement team underpinned by an in-depth understanding of International Education. Our experience of the Abu Dhabi school context and culture has developed over five years through education consultancy teams based within each of 70 public and 120 private schools as part of the ADEC PPP, Tamkeen and Reyada programs. Our schools range from KG to Cycle 3, and are in Abu Dhabi, Al Gharbia and Al Ain. SSAT is well regarded in the Emirate and by ADEC and other clients for its ability to promote change and best practice while maintaining good relationships within schools and beyond. As a consequence, SSAT is uniquely placed to capitalise upon a strong background to recruit the highest calibre teachers and produce a bespoke recruitment solutions program that will meet the specific needs of Abu Dhabi and UAE education. SSAT has worked in partnership with the ADEC Private Schools Division to support the development and enhancement of a range of schools including supplying the highest quality staff to improve schools across the Emirate. Vision Our vision is to enable all learners to achieve their potential within the global economy, create and translate professional knowledge for all educators and build capacity among all stakeholders. Mission Our mission is to provide consultancy support which is Future oriented Collaborative in partnerships Culturally aware and sensitive Demonstrating leadership at all levels Client focused 4 5

Our Attributes We believe that education can transform the lives of individuals and enhance their position within the global economy. Throughout our work, we aim to embody the following approaches Enquiry what are the needs of the individuals and organisations? Evidence what evidence is available to inform our decisions? Enable how can we enable individuals and organisations to improve and develop their capacity? Evaluate how can we improve all aspects of our work and the work of others? Our approaches are grounded in research, specialist expertise and SSAT insight of the educational market within the Middle East. Our aim is to support governing bodies, leaders, educators, schools and parents so they can facilitate significantly improved outcomes for all learners of the 21st century. Our Approach SSAT is committed to the philosophy of by schools, for schools. This means that we work to Ensure that student achievement and raising standards are at the heart of all our activities Instill evidence-based practices within our approaches to learning, leadership, support and engagement Embed our attributes of enquiry, evidence, enable, evaluate in all areas of the organisation Inspire, challenge and motivate organisations, schools and individuals to raise standards, and to provide mutual support and challenge Evaluate all areas of practice to ensure quality is maintained and benchmarked The commitment of ADEC to improve standards in education in Abu Dhabi is something that SSAT understands and supports unequivocally. We have developed an in-depth understanding of ADEC s objectives, standards and commitment to quality and a track record of working successfully in partnership with them. We fully support their strategies to support public and private schools in raising standards and improving opportunities for all young people in the Emirate now and in the future. The opportunity to focus upon sustained development with strategies spanning 10 to 20 years is unique and will provide an excellent base to improve core competencies. Much has already been achieved through the unparalleled investment to date by Abu Dhabi and other GCC states which will enable the next stage of development, including performance in internationally recognised examinations and the development of vocational educational linked to employment opportunities for nationals. This will a also impact on the broader sustainable industrial economic development. SSAT ME is proud to have had the opportunity of working in partnership with ADEC during the groundbreaking Public Private Partnership initiative and to assist with the delivery of the strategic plan for educational reform and currently supporting ADEC through our delivery of Professional development to 48 Government schools through the Tamkeen Program and 120 private schools through the Reyada Program. SSAT also works to support Private Schools through a range of mechanisms. These include licensing processes, individual school management and professional development programs. We recognise the strategic aim across the Emirate to build independence and self reliance through partnership and collaboration. This will be achieved through valuing and nurturing relationships, trust and mutual respect in order to embed sustainability within all of our work with the schools. To this end, we are providing support for school leaders and teachers that are enabling them to raise achievement, to promote the teaching and learning of a broad curriculum, partly delivered through the medium of English, and to identify, celebrate and disseminate good practice both in school leadership and in learning and teaching. Beyond formal engagement in the ADEC programs, SSAT staff is also effectively engaged in broader networks across the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East. We have developed successful relationships and partnerships with other local schools, including privately owned institutions as well as colleges, higher education institutions and local small to multinational-level businesses all of which continues to contribute to our position as a genuine long-term partner in the development of education in the Middle East. Full details of these projects can be found in the table which follows page12. Understanding through engagement at diplomatic and policy levels The scale, scope and pace of educational reform in the GCC and across the wider Middle East region is impressive in terms of both the level of investment being made into the long-term knowledge economy as well as the ambition to position the region as a world leader in related sectors. SSAT, through our global network of nearly 6000 institutions, is uniquely placed to support practitioners, learners, schools and communities in Abu Dhabi in identifying, adopting and developing best practice at all levels of education to inform local strategy and planning. 6 7

In addition to our ongoing development and delivery of services at a local level across the Middle East, SSAT has strategic relationships with governments and education ministries across the region. Each team also had a School Lead in place, responsible for the day-to-day deployment of subject specialists, organisation of the Professional Development Program for teachers and specifically for mentoring and coaching the Principal and Vice Principal of the school. SSAT was so successful in this first year of the project that the Company was allocated a further 17 schools across Al Ain and Abu Dhabi in 2009, increasing the number of schools we supported to 21.
