Welcome Carry Stoffels LtC, USA Engineers, Branch Chief Education Training & Exercise On behalf of Staff and our faculty at the Military Engineering Centre of Excellence (MILENG COE), Welcome! We hope that your attendance here will be both personally and professionally rewarding. One of the MILENG COE s tasks is to serve as a Centre for individual education and training for military personnel from NATO, Partnership for Peace, Mediterranean Dialog, and NATO cooperation countries. To be fully effective, our courses require a high degree of discussion between and among all students and faculty members. Please come ready to learn and share your knowledge and experience. This training task includes the conduct of individual, operational and tactical level education and training on NATO s current and emerging strategy, concepts, doctrine, policy, and procedures in order to improve interoperability. We hope you take advantage of your time here to work with your fellow students, make contacts and learn a great deal about the operational environment we all face today.
Student Information MILENG COE General Information Your first point of contact if you need anything during your stay in Ingolstadt will be OR 9 Don Kalkman. You can find him on the ground floor of building 8 room 0.0.5.B. Security a. You can enter the barracks using your own national military ID. b. The use of cameras of any kind in the barracks is generally prohibited. For specific circumstances ask MILENG COE Staff member if the use of cameras is allowed. c. Do not leave your personal bags unattended. Holiday policy In general, all classes start on a Monday 07.30 h and finish on Friday 12.00h. Dress standard The MILENG COE standard dress for students is their field uniform. Within the barrack s fence caps/berets are to be worn. Outside the barracks your national policy applies. Class attendance Guest speakers coming from outside of the MILENG COE have often travelled a long distance to be here. Please respect the starting times of the lectures which you will find on your class schedule. Please note that food is not allowed in the classroom.

If you are staying anywhere else, please check with the owner how the payment of your lodging should be made to avoid confusion and a possible delay at your departure. There is no cash machine at the barracks. The nearest cash machine is outside barracks at SHELL petrol station. Costs for the rooms at the barracks is 12,40 Euro per night. Meal costs: Breakfast 1,57 Euro Lunch (warm meal) 2,87 Euro Diner 2,87 Euro Transportation The MILENG COE provides transport to support our academic schedule. Should you wish to travel by car, please note that parking inside the barracks is limited; do not use reserved parking places and please lock all doors and windows. Mess facilities The dining facilities are located in building 12. Payment for the meals will be automatically deducted from a prepaid meal card; this will be issued at the start of your course. Loading credit onto this card is done at the machine located in the dining facilities.( picture below) During the weekend the dining facilities are closed, only the CASINO will be open for meals (cash only). Accommodation You will be accommodated in a single room, but you have to share the bathroom with your neighbour. There is an Internet connection in each room (cables are available at MILENG COE) you will have to sign a security info declaration before using the internet. The room keys are an electronic transponder type please familiarizes yourself with their use by reading the instructions on the next pages. If you arrived during the weekend you can find your room key in front of our Bld ( Bld 8) next to the entrance. In this key- save you will find a list with hook numbers and names, please take your key, to open this safe don t forget the security code already send by email to your personal account..
Bring your own towels and soap with you. HOW TO USE YOUR ROOM KEY To open the door normally just hold you key against the reader. When the light under the reader turns green you can open the door. After opening the door it will be locked again automatically. You do not have to lock the door when you leave. (Make sure that you have your key with you when you leave the room) If there are some problems to open the door, the duty officer at the main gate can help you out. (internal phone 1000)
Smoking Policy There is a strict no-smoking policy in all School buildings. Smoking areas are provided outside. Sport Facilities Indoor facilities (basketball, football, fitness etc) can be found in building 30/31. For details about opening hours and guidelines check the info board in the coffee room. Outdoor facilities (running, football etc) can be found behind building 30/31. Proposed routes for running are explained on the info board in the coffee room. Entertainment During your stay you have the opportunity to use the Library of the German Engineer School. Here you can find not only military books but also novels and DVD movies. This service is free. For opening hours check the info board in the coffee room. ET&E team
