This meeting of Chinook Presbytery Executive is being held in the traditional territory of Nakota, Lakota, and Cree First Nations, an area more recently known as Treaty 4. WELCOME AGENDA MINUTES Krystal Sheremeta, Conference President was introduced and welcomed to the meeting. Eunkyu Ji and his wife Sun Lee were welcomed to the Presbytery. Eunkyu is the new minister in the Grasslands Pastoral Charge. Motion #1 Doug Haroldson, Salesi Takau That Chinook Presbytery approve the agenda as presented. CARRIED Motion #2 Sandra Watson, Geri Ball That the minutes of the March 10 and 11, 2017 Presbytery Meeting be adopted as written. CARRIED Motion #3 Carolyn Conarroe, Ken Schrag The the minutes of the March 29, 2017 Special Executive Meeting be received for information. CARRIED Motion #4 Sylvia Knudsen, Ken Schrag That the minutes of the April 6, 2017 Executive Meeting be received for information. CARRIED REMITS Remit 2 Elimination of Transfer and Settlement Motion #5 That Chinook Presbytery agrees that: (a) the processes of transfer and settlement for members of the order of ministry within the United Church be eliminated, including the elimination of the General Council Transfer Committee; and that (b) the Basis of Union be amended to reflect this change. CARRIED Remit 3 Office of Vocation Motion #6 That Chinook Presbytery agrees that: (a) a denominational office of vocation be established in the structure of the United Church, with responsibilities and structure as approved by the 42nd General Council 2015; and that (b) the Basis of Union be amended to reflect this change. CARRIED Remit 4 Funding a New Model Motion #7 That Chinook Presbytery agrees to a new funding model for the United Church with the budgeting process guided by the following principles: (1) use Mission and Service to fund ministry and mission activities; (2) fund governance and
United Church of Canada Page 2017 28 support services of other courts/councils by assessing communities of faith/pastoral charges; (3) share assessments equitably across the whole church; (4) permit Conferences/presbyteries/regional councils to use additional resources for regional purposes; and (5) encourage sharing of all resources across the church. CARRIED INFORMATION SESSION Annette Taylor made a presentation on Remit #6 - Recognition of One Order of Ministry. Voting on this Remit will be conducted at our September meeting. The meeting moved into Divisions Meetings at 10:45 a.m. - Lunch Break - The meeting convened at 1:00 p.m. Krystal Sheremata, President of Saskatchewan Conference, addressed the meeting including the following items: She will be serving one more year gathering at St. Andrews, Saskatoon on June 16 - Spiritual Retreat (see enotes); June 17 - Retirees will be speaking; June 18 - Service of Praise and Ordinations. table discussions (answers to the following questions were requested) What excites you about the future of the United Church of Canada? What is your favourite thing/part about/of your Presbytery? What is your least favourite thing/part about/of your Presbytery? What is the most meaningful part of your faith? If you could say anything to the wider church, what would you say? Krystal ended her presentation assigning the following homework to everyone: Invite someone to enter a two-way discussion on the question - "How is it with your soul"? United Church of Canada Page 2017 29 REPORTS Division of Mission - computer training - June 3 - Assiniboia 10:00 a.m. To 4:00 p.m. - June 10 - First United, Swift Current 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - WARNING - software glitch - instructions will be emailed out - brainstorming of questions surrounding organization "our Cluster" in preparation for the reorganization of our church. Division of Ministry Personnel and Education Pastoral Oversight - Salesi Takau spoke about Pastoral Oversight visitations by presbyters. He likened "presbyter visits" to that of "bishop visits" and gave encouragement to getting these visits up to date. Education and Students - nothing to report Pastoral Relations - be aware of all due dates of the Payroll Program - make sure police record checks up to date - six new people in DLM program (none from western Canada) - document on website on disengaging from Ministry relationships. Motion #8 Carolyn Conarroe, Laura Balas That Chinook Presbytery recommend to Saskatchewan Conference that Eleanor Bowie, having completed Sacraments Elder instruction within the policy of the United Church of Canada April 25, 2015 (Instructor Lynette Miller), be licensed to administer the sacraments for Maple Creek Pastoral Charge from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. CARRIED Motion #9 Carolyn Conarroe, Laura Balas That Chinook Presbytery recommend to Saskatchewan Conference that Elaine Little, having completed Sacraments Elder instruction within the policy of the United Church of Canada April 25, 2015 (Instructor Lynette Miller), be licensed to

CARRIED Motion #11 Carolyn Conarroe, Doug Haroldson That Chinook Presbytery thank and dismiss the Leader/Sceptre Joint Search Committee because of the changes in their Pastoral Charge with Sceptre ceasing worship. They will be a Technical Vacancy. At base salary in accordance with the pay schedule of the United Church of Canada and all other requirements of the Call/Appointment form PR 450. United Church of Canada Page 2017 31 Motion #14 John Aiken, Marilyn Leuty That Chinook Presbytery give its permission to listing the real property described as follows by the congregation of St. Andrew's United Church, Tugaske, of the real property described as follows: Lot 1, Block 6, Plan A1301, Extension 0, being Surface Parcel #102222245 Lot 2, Block 6, Plan A1301, Extension 0, being Surface Parcel #102222256 CARRIED Motion #15 John Aiken, Marilyn Leuty That Chinook Presbytery give its consent to the granting and registering of an easement by the congregation of St. Andrew's United Church, Tugaske, the particulars of which easement shall be as follows: The Easement will be granted to the current owner of Lot 3, Block 6, Plan A 1301, Lynn Marlene Wellings, to protect the interest of Wellings in her water well, which encroaches upon the Church property described as Lot 2, Block 6, Plan A1301. The Easement granted to Wellings will be located on a strip of land on said Lot 2 bounded as follows: Commencing at the South West corner of Lot 2, Block 6, Plan A1301, go North Easterly along the South East boundary of said Lot 2 a distance of FOUR AND ONE HALF (4.50) metres, then North Westerly and parallel to the South West boundary of Lot 2 a distance of FOURTEEN AND THREE QUARTER (4.75) metre, then South Westerly and parallel to the South East boundary of Lot 2 to the South West boundary of Lot 2, then South Easterly along the South West boundary of Lot 2 to the point of Commencement.
