We host lecture meetings where we have female physicians discuss their path in medicine. We also have a volunteering opportunity with Cornerstone clinic where we get hands-on experience with patients. APAMSA Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association APAMSA is an organization committed to addressing the unique health challenges of Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities in the DFW area through education, outreach, advocacy, and service. We host non-profit health fairs, provide immunizations as well as screenings while creating clinical opportunities for students. AMOPS Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons AMOPS focuses the attention of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) on the unique aspects of practice in the Uniformed Services by the more than 2,200 Doctors of Osteopathy meeting our nation's military and federal medical needs throughout the world. AWS Association of Women Surgeons The Association of Women Surgeons is dedicated to the mission of inspiring and supporting women in all stages of medical training and to inspire, encourage, and enable female surgeons to achieve their personal and professional goals.
BGSA Black Graduate Student Association The Black Graduate Student Association is geared towards connecting and engaging students by providing a network among all minority students on UNTHSC's campus. BGSA is a student-run organization dedicated to enhancing the academic, professional, and social development of underrepresented populations in higher education. BGSA hopes to continue its mission by working as a team and maintaining an open line of communication between the officers, members, and faculty here at the UNTHSC. CBSG- IVCF Campus Bible Study Group-IVCF This is a non-denominational campus fellowship born of the incorruptible seed of God to share and express the principles and laws of Jesus Christ in UNTHSC Fort Worth through the help of the Holy Spirit without whom we can do nothing. We hope to raise and empower men and women who would be better positioned to positively impact the UNT community through our weekly meetings of prayer, worship and bible study. GHI Global Health Initiative GHI is an organization intends to work as a liaison between you and your international interest opportunity. We focus on universal healthcare, ranging from international rotations and clinical trips to local health fairs and integrating medical needs into the community. We strive to transverse cultural boundaries, and add a diverse perspective to practicing healthcare while fostering your specific international interests. LMSA Latino Medical Student Association The Latino Medical Student Association unites and empowers medical students through service, mentorship and education to advocate for the health of the Latino community. LGBT & AA LGBT and Allies Association A student group interested in promoting the health and welfare of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender as well as other sexual minorities in our community. This group is open to all student at UNTHSC and you do not have to LGBT to join. MSM Medical Student Missions (formerly FIMRoC) MSM mission is to provide access to medical care for the underprivileged and medically underserved populations MSFC Medical Students For Choice Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) is dedicated to ensuring that women receive the full range of reproductive healthcare choices. MSFC recognizes that one of the greatest obstacles to safe and legal abortion is the absence of trained providers. As medical students and residents, we work to make reproductive health care, including abortion, a part of standard medical education and residency training. SACNAS Diversity Registered Student Organizations Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans promotion of health and identify and represent the interests of marginalized communities. "SACNAS is a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists from college students to professionals to attain advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in science."- SACNAS Mission SNPhA Student National Pharmaceutical Association SNPhA is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about pharmacy and healthcare related issues, and the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. SNMA Student National Medical Association Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians. Membership includes more than 8,000 medical students, pre-medical students, residents and physicians. Established in 1964 by medical students from Howard University College of Medicine and Meharry Medical College, SNMA boasts 50 years of service to underserved communities and medical students. SNMA is dedicated both to ensuring
that medical education and services are culturally sensitive to the needs of diverse populations and to increasing the number of African-American, Latino, and other students of color entering and completing medical school. SVA Student Veterans Association The basic tenets of the SVA organization include: 1) Serve the needs of Student Veterans attending the UNTHSC. 2) Raise Veteran awareness within the entire UNTHSC community. 3) Provide veteran-specific community service as an arm of the UNTHSC. TRHA Texas Rural Health Association TRHA strives to promote community service and raising awareness of special health needs of rural health populations. TGH Timmy Global Health Timmy Global Health expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle todays most pressing global health challenges. To achieve this mission, TGH sends medical service teams to support the work of international partner organizations, channels financial, medical, and human resources to community based health and development projects, and works to empower students to fundraise, advocate, and serve in an effort to fight health disparities both at home and abroad.
