Key Dates for 2017 Term 4 November: Tuesday 31 st Oct 5 th December Pre-Kinder Sessions 1:45 2:45 p.m. Friday 3 rd Student Free Day Monday 6 th Public Holiday Recreation Day Friday 10 th Assembly Thursday 16 th Athletics Carnival Thursday 30 th Schools Triathlon December Tuesday 5 th Grade 6 Transition Day DHS Tuesday 12 th Certificate Assembly Monday 18 th Grade 6 Celebration Assembly Grade 6 Leavers Dinner Our LIFT committee organised a wonderful free family event last night that was well attended by many in our school community. Many children were able to participate in construction and sensory play activities, with the slime being quite popular! A big thank you to our LIFT committee and the Early Childhood teachers for organising this event. Our school gardens have had a facelift courtesy of a Bunnings Community Project last week. Some of our students had the opportunity to participate in the project, and were able to help upgrade our courtyard garden beds and plant new plants. We thank Bunnings for their support and look forward to another visit from them soon. A National Joblink team of workers have also been hard at work in our school grounds over the last few days. They have been cleaning, weeding and painting around the school to help tidy up our grounds. As the weather is now getting warmer, you will notice a lot of action in our school grounds as we make improvements to the areas for our children to play and spend time in. Our sandpit and bark areas have also had a tidy up over the last week. Our school participated in the National Music program Count Us In this afternoon. This is a simultaneous nationwide singing of a selected song. Students enjoyed this unique experience. Students spent time learning this song in Music lessons. We farewelled Mrs Lyons on Monday as she commences Long Service Leave prior to her retirement. The school held an assembly last week to provide students with the opportunity to wish Mrs Lyons all the best, and staff held a special morning tea. Miss Cameron has enjoyed working alongside Mrs Lyons for the last 2 weeks, and will now continue on the class full time. Nichole Todd Principal Devonport Primary School Department of Education

This is an invitation for classes, parents to come along to the performance. I hope everyone is able to come and support the Bands. Please remember the date because term 4 is a very busy term.

Gardening On Friday I went gardening with the people from Bunnings Warehouse. Firstly we had to put on gloves and a safety mask to protect us from breathing in dust. Then we picked our first plant. The holes were already dug. I planted a gardenia in one hole and an azalea in another. We got some soil. The helper showed us a trick.he rolled down the side of the bag of dirt and then tipped it into the hole easily. We patted the soil down. Then we put bark around and watered the plants in. We put new mulch around the plants. We took photos of our garden. By Xeon Mitchell. I did gardening with the Bunnings people. First I dug a hole. Then I tipped the pot upside down and tapped it to get the plant out. And then I put it in the hole and patted the dirt around it. By Brock Roberts 3/4 Viney

Devonport Primary School Athletic Carnival Get your running shoes ready, as our school Athletic Carnival will be held on Thursday 16 th November at the Devonport High School front oval for all grades P-6 from 9:40 a.m. 2:00 p.m. In the event of wet weather the athletics carnival will be rescheduled for Friday 17 th November at Devonport High School. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to come along and support, as we compete for points for our house teams in our school athletic carnival. Students are required to come to school as normal so attendance can be completed before students walk with their class teacher to Devonport High School. The carnival action will start at approximately 9:40 a.m. and continue until about 2:00 p.m. A program of events will be sent home next week which will give approximate running times of the events along with further information about the carnival. If parents wish to take their child home at the end of the carnival, students must be signed out on their class teachers lists. If your child is going home with another parent, consent must be given in writing to the class teacher. The Kinder Athletic Carnival will be held on Monday 20 th November starting at 2:00 p.m. on our school oval. We hope all our kinder families can attend. Schools Triathlon Challenge Wow! 67 Devonport Primary students have signed up to compete in the triathlon challenge. What a fantastic effort.
