Many children were able to participate in construction and sensory play activities, with the slime being quite popular! A big thank you to our LIFT committee and the Early Childhood teachers for organising this event. Our school gardens have had a facelift courtesy of a Bunnings Community Project last week. Some of our students had the opportunity to participate in the project, and were able to help upgrade our courtyard garden beds and plant new plants. We thank Bunnings for their support and look forward to another visit from them soon. A National Joblink team of workers have also been hard at work in our school grounds over the last few days. They have been cleaning, weeding and painting around the school to help tidy up our grounds. As the weather is now getting warmer, you will notice a lot of action in our school grounds as we make improvements to the areas for our children to play and spend time in. Our sandpit and bark areas have also had a tidy up over the last week. Our school participated in the National Music program Count Us In this afternoon. This is a simultaneous nationwide singing of a selected song. Students enjoyed this unique experience. Students spent time learning this song in Music lessons. We farewelled Mrs Lyons on Monday as she commences Long Service Leave prior to her retirement. The school held an assembly last week to provide students with the opportunity to wish Mrs Lyons all the best, and staff held a special morning tea. Miss Cameron has enjoyed working alongside Mrs Lyons for the last 2 weeks, and will now continue on the class full time. Nichole Todd Principal Devonport Primary School Department of Education

Gardening On Friday I went gardening with the people from Bunnings Warehouse. Firstly we had to put on gloves and a safety mask to protect us from breathing in dust. Then we picked our first plant. The holes were already dug. I planted a gardenia in one hole and an azalea in another. We got some soil. The helper showed us a trick.he rolled down the side of the bag of dirt and then tipped it into the hole easily. We patted the soil down. Then we put bark around and watered the plants in. We put new mulch around the plants. We took photos of our garden. By Xeon Mitchell. I did gardening with the Bunnings people. First I dug a hole. Then I tipped the pot upside down and tapped it to get the plant out. And then I put it in the hole and patted the dirt around it. By Brock Roberts 3/4 Viney
