Period 1: January 15 August 31, 2010 Initiated testing of shear strength and stiffness of glue bonds under different manufacturing conditions: species, pressure, adhesives Initiated development of FEM model for CLT plates Period 2: September 1 January 14, Completed testing of shear strength and stiffness of glue bonds under different manufacturing conditions: species, pressure, adhesives Progressing on development of FEM model for CLT plates Prepared for the NewBuilds workshop 2. Deviations from original research plan (If appropriate, provide a summary of any change in work plan and time line, with background and justification.) Year 2010 Original work plan Milestone/Deliverable Initiate development of experimental database on CLT plate including study of material properties and plate behavior. Year 1 Revised work plan* Milestone/Deliverabl e Page 1 of 3
2012 2013 2014 Material properties to be investigated will include: the elastic and strength properties of the laminae (species, thickness, and grade) and fingerjoints; the elastic and strength properties of small CLT specimens produced under different manufacturing conditions including adhesives type, pressing parameters, panel construction details. Plate behavior will be studied by the evaluation of full size panels in bending under various support conditions. Completed the experimental database started in year 1 and develop a verified finite element model to predict the short term response of CLT plate under out-of-the-loading. Initiate development of experimental database and model on CLT strips under long term loading Complete experimental database on CLT strips under long term loading. Initiate verification of model Develop reliability analysis to quantify long term response of the CLT strips based on verified model Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 2012 2013 2014 2015 * Provide background for the revised work plan Justification for deviations from original work plan 3.
