MONTPELLIER FRENCH COURSE: PROGRAMME CONDITIONS SUPERVISION This programme is run in an adult language school and is suitable only for students who are 16 and over and have a certain level of maturity and sense of responsibility. This course does not offer 24-hour supervision and is not suitable for all students. If parents are concerned about the level of supervision and feel the student might not be sufficiently mature for this type of course, please contact EIL to discuss alternative programmes that do offer campus accommodation and 24-hour supervision. Students are supervised only when they are in the language school or on language school organised activities (which in some cases are optional). Students are free to come and go as they please on afternoons, when they do not have tuition, and evenings. Host families offer a boarding service and are not expected to police the students. The host family is only expected to supervise the curfew. The curfew for return home to the host family is 23:00 Sunday-Thursday and 00:30 Friday, Saturday and days before bank holidays. Parents have the option to set an earlier curfew if desired. It is the student s responsibility to ensure that they keep to their curfew and host families are not expected to wait up beyond their normal bed time waiting for the student to return. If the student has not returned by the agreed time, the host family will notify the language school the next day and disciplinary action will be taken. PLACEMENT Participants agree to accept the final judgment of EIL for all host family placements. EIL does not discriminate against class, race, nationality, creed or religion. Students may be placed in "non typical" households such as couples without children, single parents, elderly couples with children no longer at home, etc. To keep a quality standard, EIL does not accept requests for friends or relatives to be placed in the same host family and is unable to accept requests for friends or relatives to be placed in the same location or in a location near to each other. Students will not be placed in locations where they require more than a 30 minute commute to the school. Some students will be within walking distance while others will be required to take public transportation (bus, tram, taxi, etc.). All students must have a sufficient level of maturity and responsibility to be able to take public transportation on their own. If parents are concerned about students taking public transportation on their own during evenings or night time, the option is available to set an earlier curfew than the standard 12 midnight.. DEPOSIT Non refundable. ALCOHOL / DRUGS The consumption of alcohol is not permitted on this programme for students under 18. No illicit drug taking is permitted. Students are accepted on the programme in the good faith that they are mature and responsible enough to understand and respect this rule. As in Ireland, we can give no guarantee that such activity will not take place and can only commit to taking disciplinary action in those instances that come to our attention. We reserve the right to remove from the programme any student who consumes alcohol, drugs, breaks the law or who engages in dangerous or inappropriate behaviour which puts their own safety or the safety of others at risk. 3

ATTENDANCE AT SCHOOL The student is required to attend class daily, on-time and in a condition to actively participate in class. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE Disciplinary action is at the sole discretion of the Director of the school, after consultation with EIL, up to and including immediate expulsion from the course without warning, depending on the severity of the situation. For students expelled from the course, parents will be required to organise return flights within 24 hours, if possible. The student s parents or legal guardian will be responsible for all costs related to the return trip as well as the cost of any damages caused to a third party. There will be no refund of any unused fees. Examples of situations where a student might be expelled from the course include use of drugs, consumption of alcohol, not respecting the curfew, repeated warnings from the school as to behaviour, etc. CURFEW The curfew for students is 23:00 Sunday-Thursday and 00:30 Friday, Saturday and days before bank holidays. Should you wish your son/daughter to have an EARLIER curfew, please fill in the time by which they should be home. I request that my son s / daughter s curfew is set at PM. PARENT I have read and accept the above conditions and I am aware that this programme does not offer 24-hour supervision. My son/daughter has a suitable level of maturity to participate in this course and I understand that he/she has been accepted in the good faith that he/she will be responsible for his/her own actions. I fully understand that the host family and school will always have the best interests of my son/daughter in mind when setting any rules and I agree to support any disciplinary action imposed as outlined above.
