2016 DIVISION 80 RABBITS *Denotes State Fair Entry Purple, $3; Blue, $2; Red, $1.50; White, $1 All rabbit entries must be pre-entered at the Extension Office by July 1. One exhibitor may enter not more than eight live entries. Only two substitutions to pre-entry registration are allowed per youth on check-in day. All rabbits brought to the fair must be on the ID sheet. If the rabbit is not on the ID sheet, it may not be shown. All entries will remain on premises during entire fair. All rabbits must be owned by exhibitor by June 1 of the current year, and identified by tattoo to exhibit at fair. Rabbits must have tattoo in ear prior to check in day. Rabbits without proper tattoo cannot be checked in. All animals for exhibition shall be free of and show no symptoms of diseases during the exhibition. There is no limit to the number of live entries per class. More than one animal can be shown in the same class, but the total number of animals per exhibitor cannot exceed the maximum number allowed. All entries in a class will be presented to the judge together. Each exhibitor will be expected to be present while judging is taking place. The exhibitor will take the animal to a designated judging area where it will be judged according to its class. For handling rabbits to show, consult the publication Your 4-H Rabbit Project PNW 163 available at the County Extension Office. Herdsmanship duties are the responsibilities of the exhibitors. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding and watering their own animals. Exhibitors are expected to keep the exhibit area orderly, neat and attractive. They are expected to be courteous to other exhibitors and visitors. All exhibitors are expected to clean their area before removing animals from the exhibit building. 4-H Rabbits will be released at 8 a.m. Monday, August 1. Buffalo County also follows State Fair rules and guidelines. Dress Code The same dress code applies to rabbits that applies to livestock and will be strictly enforced. Show coats will NOT be permitted. Long sleeved white shirts will be permitted. The dress code requirements will be for the regular show and showmanship. Each exhibitor can exhibit two entries in each of the following classes, not to exceed four entries. Each exhibit must include the following information on a half sheet of 8½-inch by 11-inch paper or index card: Exhibitor number, name, age, years in project. Goal in making exhibit. Steps taken towards goal. List important things learned. What ideas or plans do you have for the future based on what you have learned? Attach construction plans if applicable. Age 14-over RABBIT SHOWMANSHIP *Denotes State Fair Entry Purple, $3; Blue, $2; Red, $1.50; White, $1 Each showman must show his or her own rabbit and will enter the class corresponding to his or her 4-H age. A. Basis for judging-showmanship is based on grooming and training of the rabbit and the appearance and behavior of the exhibitor. The exhibitor must vocally explain the steps in their routine and the merit of the rabbit. Primarily showmanship is the skill of the exhibitor in presenting and explaining the rabbit before the judge. The excellence of the rabbit is not considered in scoring. B. Maximum length of showmanship presentations is four minutes. Exhibitors will be timed. C. This is a timed event. Maximum length of showmanship presentations are subject to the current time limit as set forth by the Nebraska State Fair. Time limit may vary from year to year. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to know the time limit.

Exhibitors must comply with the dress code for all livestock. Exhibitor may wear a long-sleeve white shirt with the 4-H emblem. No show coats will be allowed. Adults must remain seated. No one other than the judges, you and show helpers will be allowed in the judging area.
