Luckily, you are not at it alone! Interactions with your peers can help create a sense of community and belonging, which is crucial to the collective experience within the PhD program. Whether you are a local or international student, a network from which to draw upon (one that understands the stresses of qualifying exams, seeking funding, dissertation work, finding work-life balance, etc.) can enhance everyone s experience in the program. Developing social support networks is essential not only as a PhD student but as a researcher and scholar. In efforts to continue to build community between and across cohorts here at Jane Addams, your doctoral committee reps, Jodie and Susie, will be coordinating a number of social events for us to meet, network, and have fun, starting with the event below. We hope to see you all there! Let s get Together! {and have some fun!} Date: Thursday, January 18th, 2018 Location: Wise Owl Drinkery and Cookhouse 324 S. Racine Ave, Chicago, IL 60607 (Racine & Van Buren) Time: 6:10PM
