Report of activities 2015

A year punctuated by numerous projects In 2015 we have completed several projects of renovation, construction, creation and education. All this has been possible evidently thanks to the support of our partners and also thanks to numerous private individuals.

CONSTRUCTION

Childlife The works in this large building bringing together boys washrooms, girls washrooms, kitchen and canteen were finished at the beginning of 2015. We have also been able to improve the boys dormitory, the rice preparation room and add some plastic curtains to protect against bad weather. We are pleased to have finished this project in partnership with numerous associations.!

Baan Mana At the end of the year, we began the works of the new centre at Baan Mana, a children s home which we have helped since the end of 2014. neuse. la cuisine, le réfectoire, ù des activités seront organisées. rant de larges perspectives! These buildings will be built with clay bricks (a mixture of earth, water, and rice husks) which will be an excellent insulator in this mountainous region. We will build a main building consisting of girls dormitory, the boys dormitory, the kitchen, the refectory, girls and boys washrooms and an office. On the first floor an educational space of about 160 m 2, will be open to all the village children where some activities will be organized. Another building to house the staff will also be built. An exciting project and one which opens large horizons for us.

Our other works At School of Hope, we have installed plastic curtains to protect the classroom during the rainy season At Baan Dek Dee, we built two water tanks of 1,200 litres, each one equipped with a pump so that the children can have regular access to water. We have also built an exterior roof so that clothes can be dried at all times of the year.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Art and Music During this year, we have organized a workshop on Art. We have also acquired musical instruments: guitars, drums a synthesizer. The children can learn to play them with the help of one of our volunteers.

To feed ourselves well. We have organized, in the space of 6 months, 3 nutrition workshops with the help of the agroindustrial faculty of Mae Fah Luang University of Chiang Rai. At the beginning, balanced diets were established with the children. Then, they learnt to make jellies, keep fruits and vegetables in the cool, to make soya milk. Lastly, on Christmas Day, we taught the children to cook home-made burgers, all the time alerting the children to the drawbacks of industrial fast food.

Equipment to improve understanding We have delivered in most of the centres that we help, computer equipment (computers and tablets), teaching materials (books, school equipment, a globe) and furniture. At the same time, we continue to support financially 10 students so that they can go to university within the framework of our project «Study Scholarships».

Rice programme Our rice programme has repaid us the best! In 2015, we delivered no less than 8 tonnes of brown organic rice. 5 Children s homes have benefitted from this programme thanks to different donors.

EDM Thailand Since November 2015, it s official, EDM (Education and Development of Minorities) has been created. In fact, to establish our future educational projects, it was necessary to create a foundation in Thailand. To establish this new continuity, Baan Mana has become the first EDM Children s Home. Just to remind you, Baan Mana accommodates 34 children from the Lahou ethnic minority.

Partnership Programme This year has also been the time to put in place a partnership programme. The aim is simple: To finance the children s homes so that they have a stable income (to buy food, pay staff salaries, organise activities) so that they centres can focus better on education. We have already found a generous donor who is going to partner Baan Mana for one year! Our hope for 2016 is to find partners for 3 other centres which we are already in the process of supporting through our programmes, by delivering rice to them, clothes or computer material.

2016 Target Education! Thanks to our programme of partnership, we shall be able to put in place a real education programme which will adapt itself to all of the centres that we help. We will organize different workshops on sex education, nutrition, the arts, religions but also on sporting activities, theatre, career guidance days. Foreign volunteers will come to teach English in the village schools and in the children s homes.

Accounts In 2015, the total of gifts amounted to 108,582 of which 83,806 was received directly by our association and 24,776 was sent directly to the children s homes by our partners. Christmas 2015 To finish the year on a pleasant note, we organized Christmas with 3 orphanages where we have played, laughed, eaten and enjoyed ourselves all together. The children really appreciated this moment.

Without you, we can do nothing. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
