bangor university Best university setting in the UK bangor university inexpensive and safe Spectacular, historic, connected. Situated on the north coast of Wales, Bangor has both mountains and beaches on its doorstep and is an idyllic backdrop to student life. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty just outside of Snowdonia National Park, the city boasts dramatic views across the sparkling Menai Strait to the stunning Isle of Anglesey. In fact, The Independent s A to Z of Universities says Bangor has the best setting of any UK university. The city is just two hours by train from Liverpool, and two and a half hours from Manchester. Both are major UK cities with international airports and excellent links to the rest of the country. London is just over three hours away. Ireland is also easy to reach, with regular ferries running from Holyhead, on Anglesey, to Dublin. The ancient St Deiniol s Cathedral sits at the heart of Bangor. There s also a Victorian pier extending into the Menai Strait, as well as three world heritage castles within half an hour of the city. Summer temperatures can reach as high as 30 c, while the city s coastal location means it enjoys slightly warmer winter weather than the UK average, usually between 5 and 10 degrees. You can totally enjoy the life of the countryside here, instead of the big city. Alex from ChinA Business Studies According to The Independent, Bangor is one of the most economical places to study in the UK. The low cost of living means your money will go further than it would in other parts of the country.
