SPRING GROVE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT PLANNED INSTRUCTION Course Title: Spanish III Length of Course: 30 cycles Grade Level(s): 10-12 Units of Credit: 1 Required: Elective: X Periods Per Cycle: Length of Period: Total Instructional Time: 6 single 43 minutes 129 hours Course Description: This course is designed to present the language in its natural order: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The student will develop these communication skills through vocabulary. Proper pronunciation and intonation will also be stressed. Objectives of Planned Course: 1. The student will acquire vocabulary and grammar while applying listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to fundamental daily expressions of the target language. 2. The student will identify and recognize cultural aspects of several places where the target language is spoken. 3. The student will use both regular and irregular verbs to communicate in the present, past, imperfect, future, conditional, subjunctive, and immediate future tenses of the target language. Relationship to Academic Standards and Strategic Plan: Spanish III is linked to the Strategic Plan by providing a foundation for future language study. Communication Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions. Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics. Standard 1.3: Students present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics. Cultures Standard 2.1: Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the culture studied. Standard 2.2: Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the products and perspectives of the culture studied.
