Respect yur teacher, schl and classmates 2. Respect the learning envirnment f thers. 3. Fllw directins the first time they are given CONSEQUENCES First infractins will receive a verbal warning. Cntinued r escalated behavir will result in a seat change and/r the remval f the student frm class, lunch detentin, Friday schl. Students may have t make up the missed time during lunch r after schl. EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENTS Be prepared and n time fr class EVERYDAY. Being prepared means: Yu are seated at yur desk and prepared t wrk at the beginning f each class perid Yu have a psitive attitude and willingness t learn! Yu have brught the required supplies (see belw) and hmewrk
TARDIES Students are expected t be in class, n-time, with materials and ready t g fr class everyday. Failure t d s will result in a student being cnsidered tardy. Repeated tardiness (3 r mre) will result in students having t cme in at lunch, befre and/r after schl. SHOWING YOUR WORK Students are expected t shw wrk fr all assignments and tests. Shwing yur wrk demnstrates yur understanding f cncepts taught in class and allws the instructr t fllw yur wrk and see the prgress yu are making. Shwing yur wrk als prvides the pprtunity t receive partial credit. FAILURE TO SHOW YOUR WORK MAY RESULT IN A SCORE OF ZERO. If yu have t ask yurself if yu need t shw yur wrk, yu shuld shw yur wrk. STUDENT CODE f CONDUCT It is expected that at all times, students will act hnestly and ethically. Cheating and/r being cheated-ff-f will result in a minimum f a zer n the assignment/exam and pssibly an F in the curse. Plagiarism in math class is still an issue. Turning in an answer r slutin that the student did nt generate is cnsidered plagiarism. This includes getting answers frm anther student r the bk withut prducing their wn wrk. Fr a minr infractin, the student may be asked t red the assignment r the assignment may nt receive credit. Cntinued cpying n assignments, r cpying n a test r prject will result in n credit and will be reprted t administratin. FOOD and DRINK Drinks are allwed in class as lng as they are in a sealable cntainer (water bttles, gatrade, etc ) Fd will nt be permitted at any time in class. Fd r unsealable drinks will need t be dispsed f befre entering class. CELL PHONES N cell phnes shuld be activated and psitined where they can be seen r used during lecture, quizzes, r tests. Cell phne calculatrs are nt allwed n assessments. Cell phnes ut during this time will need t be cnfiscated by the instructr fr the remainder f the class fr the first ffense, and delivered t the ffice fr repeated ffenses. Hwever, students MAY be allwed t listen t music during apprpriate wrk time in class. This privilege can be remved r revked at any time if students fail t fllw the guidelines established in class. CLASSROOM SUPPLIES A ntebk/binder with 3 dividers and lse leaf paper fr ntes and assignments. Pencils Graphing Calculatr (TI-84 Plus is preferred) Prtable Device Class Supplies

Wrk (5% f yur grade) The gal f ur time in class is t cmplete practice prblems and exercises t gain understanding and fluency when slving algebraic prblems. There will be ample amunts f time alltted fr practice, if students d nt use their time wisely the result will be hmewrk. The grade fr practice/hmewrk will be based n participatin, risk taking, questining, and the students ability t preserve and slve prblems. There will be sme assignments and prjects that will be cmpleted in class. Thse will be graded based n participatin, cmpleteness and crrectness. When apprpriate a rubric will be prvided. Pearsn On-line hmewrk g t: mymathlab.cm Register as a student (if yu have never had a class in Pearsn Online ) Enrll in my class: prctr89764 Hmewrk will regularly be assigned in this prgram. Ntebk/Binder Ntebks will be checked at the end f each unit. Yu are required t have a 3 ring binder divided int 3 sectins fr this class. An rganized binder with a class wrk/ntes sectin, hmewrk sectin, and an assessments sectin is required and will be checked fr cmpleteness n test days. When I check yur binder I will be lking at yur verall cntent (are ntes/quizzes/tests present), is yur wrk fr yur yur hmewrk there and rganizatin (is everything labeled and easy t find). 2. Assessments-Test/Quizzes/Mastery Assignments (85% f yur grade) Quizzes- Quizzes will be given frequently thrughut the semester in rder t measure students understanding f the material. Tests- There will be a test at the end f each unit. Tests will include material frm earlier units as well. Mastery Assignments Students will be given a Mastery Assignment (quiz). The Mastery Assignments are based n the essential skills that are required fr the student t be successful at the next level f their mathematical career. The math department has cllabrated t determine which skills are essential at each level. Mastery Assignments are assessments that students take that are fcused n specific skills.
Expnents Ratinal Lgs Ratinal Functins Slving Graphing Unit circle Trignmetry Identities If a student des nt pass the Mastery Assignment with an 80% r better they will be given a new Mastery Assignment with new prblems. This prcess will cntinue until the student has shwn mastery with a grade f 80% r better. Each mastery assignment is wrth 25 pints. Students wh d nt crrect assignments until they have an 80% will receive n credit fr the assignment. Students wh cmplete ALL mastery assignments will earn the privilege f using a ntecard n the final examinatin. 3. Final Exam (10% f yur grade) The final includes all material cvered ver the semester and is given at the end f the semester. Students wh have cmpleted all Mastery Assignments will be allwed t use a 3x5 nte card n the final. GRADE REPLACEMENT On the final examinatin, students will have the pprtunity t replace lw test scres with the scres received n the crrespnding sectin f the final exam. Fr example, if a student received a 62% n the Chapter 3 test and then scres an 80% n the Chapter 3 sectin f the final, the 62% will be replaced by the 80%. Grade replacement DOES NOT apply t tests that were nt taken. *** The instructr reserves the right t adjust the syllabus at any time***
Dear Student and Parents/Guardians: Hell and welcme t the schl year. My name is Mr. Prctr and I am lking frward t this year as we explre varius mathematical cncepts, and have fun ding it! I enjy teaching math and believe it is an imprtant subject that yu will need fr the remainder f yur life. I am cnfident that the curriculum and ther qualified resurces will challenge the students and advance their mathematical knwledge. In rder fr us t be successful this year, we need t have an envirnment in the classrm which will allw all f us t learn. When prblems arise in the classrm, I will make my best effrt t reslve the matter individually with the student. If we are unable t reslve the prblem, then I ften ask fr parents supprt and assistance. Tgether we can usually reslve prblems early and get students pinted in the right directin. Please supprt me by reviewing the attached list f my classrm plicies and expectatins. Please take the time t read thrugh these s yu understand them and feel free t ask me questins. My dr is always pen, s please d nt hesitate t cntact me if yu have any questins r cncerns.
