Every time that you log on to the site you must enter your student name and password. Our database keeps track of your IP address (the computer that you are using) and the length of time that you are logged on each and every time. When you log in to this site you may notice that if you have not moved the mouse or changed to the next page within 20 minutes you will have to log in again. (This is a time-out default). If you are constantly moving around the site there will be no time limit or interruption in your viewing of the site. The exam has a time limit imposed on it. You will have a total of four (4) hours to complete the Core Essentials of Paint and Painting Technology exam. In this level there are several links which use a PDF format (this is a specific type of file not unlike a word document). If you do not have the program Adobe Acrobat loaded on your computer you will simply click on the Adobe Reader button and download the free version so that you may open and read the documents. The download will walk you through process, step by step. This is a safe download and will not harm your computer, or add a lot of space to your memory on your computer. Closing any linked pages on this training site will not kick you off the site. The next very important aspect to this level is use of the MPI Glossary of Terms. It may be very helpful to load this glossary each time that you start a new chapter. It will be found in the student resources section (INTRODUCTION) of the course. You can hide it from view by simply clicking on the - button in the upper rt. hand corner of the window. The next few pages will show you, pictorially, how to do certain tasks while using this training site. We hope that these pages will make the site easier to use. MPI Training Student Handbook page 1
